Scientific truth does not disprove anyone's core religious faith. Those who feel the need to re-write science in order to maintain their faith:

a) have a very weak grasp on their own faith and need to re-inforce it with a "war against science"

b) misunderstand the true nature of faith and the true nature of science.

I hope you realize that everything you say, while, true, is a double-edged sword. While I agree with what you say, I would apply it 180-degrees opposite to what you might do.

To me, the creationists are correct, and everything you say is being perpetrated by fanatical evolutionists who feel their faith-based evolutionary system is being threatened by another world-view.

Evolutionists are the ones, in my view, who twist science to fit their world view.

Incidentally, if you take a survey of world religions, both ancient and modern, you will find that evolution is held by far more religious systems than is creationism.

My point being? Simply that evolution is as much a religious point of view as is creationism.

Remember, neither side lacks for PhDs to present its view with academic "objectivity."

I disagree with you on this issue. I'm sure there are many other issues that you and I agree on and which are more important (in terms of the purpose of FR) than this one. We will not "finally prove" evolution, or "finally disprove" evolution, here in FR. We may, on the other hand, accomplish other things, such as making FR a significant factor in the 2002 congressional elections, elections which will, hopefully, sweep the horrid RATS from office.

De-RAT-ing the USA is an issue with teeth, merit and practicality. And it's issues like that (the immediate political ones relating to our continued Liberty in the USA) that we should focus on here in FR. I really don't think this site is well-served by a fractious debate on this question of creationism/evolution.

One does not need a phD to know that the moon (formed with the Earth by almost unversal agreement) did not come into being 6,000 years ago. Further, I don't care how many phDs said it did

Post 28 I agree with you. Why do evolutionissts feel threatened by this museum? Are they afraid that the issue of DNA will be brought up?

I don't remember science ever "proving" the Big Bang theory, and yet we are to take it as the absolute truth? I'd trust the scriptures before I'd trust scientific theory. (They have stood the test of time.) Also, amazingly enough, scientists have not proven evolution either, it is a theory.

Faith is the evidence of things not seen. You said that those who must "re-write science to" (uphold their religious beliefs) are weak. On the contrary. What does that make those people who must develop and stand on theories to deny spirituality, or any possibility of it.

IMO, those who are resolved to only believe what they can see are not facing reality. Who on earth today saw Abraham Lincoln with their own eyes? I believe in him, do you? Certainly. We know he was real. We have plenty of evidence of his life, because of literature, historians, artists, writings...The same is true of Jesus.

This is my belief. I do not insult those who do not share my belief by saying they are weak, stupid people. Just because we don't agree does not make one of us weak or lacking in intelligence. We may not share the same opinions, but let's not insult each other.
