ORANGE COUNTY, March 8, 2002 The Sunday volunteer recognition program at the American Red Cross Orange County Chapter in Santa Ana, California, honors America both through the presentation of colors and in the music program. The American Red Cross Chapter in Orange County and the Orange County High School of the Arts regret that we were not able to reach agreement on the music program with conductor Cherilyn Bacon. The dispute was over the music program and has nothing to do with patriotism. "God Bless America" is a wonderful song. The event begins with the posting of the American Flag and the singing of "The Star-Spangled Banner." The dispute centers only on our sensitivity to religious diversity, and a preference for a music program that would be inclusive and not offend different populations participating in this particular event. © Copyright 2001, The American Red Cross, Orange County Chapter. DEMAND THEY SING ALL THREE VERSES OF THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER!!!Verse 3:
O, thus be it ever when freemen shall stand,
Between their lov'd homes and the war's desolation;
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us as a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust"
And the star spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Sounds like they're a little nervous. I imagine the only religious diversity they DON'T respect is Judeo-Christian.
Who do the Red Cross think they are? Religious Diversity police?

What an arrogant bunch of SOBs. HEADS MUST ROLL on this one.

I would usually say they shouldn't hold their breath waiting for my next donation, but in this case I hope they do. Calling them commies is being to kind.

They are beyond hope.
What I find most interesting about the Red Cross is how much disdain many WW II vets have for them.
Last time I saw my mom, she told me how she and her sisters knitted scarfs and sweaters for the servicemen during that war only find out upon return of the guys from her area that the Red Cross was selling them those items.
BTW....I appreciate your pointing out the "rebar" angle on the steel thread, that will affect my position.

Poor excuse for a ANOTHER BAD decision.

First they try to "divert" tens if not hundreds of millions from the victim's families of 9/11. Now this!
Stick a fork in them. THEY ARE DONE!

Oh My Gosh! The money I was going to donate to the Red Cross says "In God We Trust." I'll save them from having to send it back to me and instead donate it to Salvation Army.

Sure. After your comments I did a little digging and was pretty amazed to find that many of the tarriffs are steel product specific and exceed that which the WTO recomended.

The American Red Cross can drop dead.
Never will they get another dime from me.

Well I was a BIG defender of the ARC right after the 9/11 funding controversy hit. Now, I have nothing but ill feelings for this organization. Another bunch of anti-Americans with a tax exemption.

Just sent e-mail:
I have just read the March 8 statement by the American Red Cross regarding the above-referenced subject, and I have to say it is even more offensive than what I'd heard previously. I cannot conceive of the sheer gall necessary to blame this political correctness on your supposed "sensitivity to religious diversity" when it is blatantly indicative of your
intolerance of religious diversity. One would have thought that the ARC would have learned its lesson after getting caught attempting to steal millions of dollars from victims of 9/11, but evidently that was too optimistic an assumption on my part. With every action it takes, the Red Cross disgusts me more.

P.S. Shouldn't the religiously offensive cross be replaced with some other emblem? The Red Swastika or the Red Pentagram, perhaps.
