Me too...Nov 2000 I joined the KSTP radio protest on the capitol steps of St. Paul, Minnesota---that was the first time I had EVER "protested", too.
Believe me, had I known Bush had this in mind at that time, I would have stayed home and done something more important, like scraping the plaque off of my dog's teeth.
My family is a bunch of Democrats so they are gloating with glee at my displeasure for Bush, but at the same time they are against "guest worker" (read: Amnesty-Step 1) as well.
It's too late---he has lost my vote for 2004. I'll vote for his opposition in the primaries and, if he wins, I'll vote for a 3rd party candidate in the general election. Hopefully, we'll have a third party a la Australia's One Nation that will step up to the plate.
That's about where I'm at, too.
These guys might be worth a look: Constitution Party
Take a look at the immigration plank of their platform.
Before anyone asks, no I am not a member of that party.
One of my best friends is a Democrat, and he is dead set against amnesty as well. Like your family, he is loving the fact I am disillusioned with Bush.
Bush was the lesser of two evils back in 2000, but no way will I ever vote for him again. Like others, I'll write in some celebrity crackpot's name before I'll vote for him again.
