That is good news about Cannon being opposed. If an immigrant control constituency gets seriously involved, it could be Dick Chrysler Part 2. Such is the news we need to hear.
Note what Throckmorton is up against:
Cannon's older brother is Joe Cannon, chairman of the State Republican Party, chairman of Geneva Steel and a member of the Deseret News' board of directors
These guys are connected Mormons. The Church owns the Deseret News. Geneva Steel was the biggest employer in Utah County (Provo) until it ran up against international competition (connection to the recent steel tariff?). I don't think Cannon has any real beliefs; he's completely greed driven. He's doing this for Bush because of a deal.
