Tancredo doubts he can block amnesty-extension bill

Never vote for the lesser of two evils. Dems send our country to hell at 60 mph, Repubs send our country to hell at 30 mph (maybe 50). Either way, the ultimate destination is the same.

Can someone explain to me the Libertarian Party's policy on immigration? I've read it on their website, but I'm confused on that point. Do they advocate "open borders" for all (including illegals), or only for those that are trying to get here by going through the legal process? That's the only policy of theirs that worries me.

It may be recent legislation, but banks must have an SS number to open a new account for a customer. I know because My four year old just opened her first acount last week when her piggy bank became full. The account officer at the bank revealed this new regulation to me when we went in to open my daughter's first account.

The Libertarian position from what I can gather is the total free movement of people, across national boundaries. They believe, like the Wall St. Journal that business should be able to hire whoever they choose, that's total a free market philosophy.

They try to balance this insanity by saying that of course for this to work we must do away with all welfare and government benefits. Everyone in the world should be allowed in, they just won't get anything for their efforts from the taxpayer.

The big problem with this thinking is well, their kids still have to go to school, who's going to pay for that? And what if they get sick and can't afford hospital care? Are going to let them die in the street? Of course not. Just these expenses alone would add up to billions of dollars, but the Libertarians continue on that their "plan" is workable. It is not, and that's why during election time they get about 05% of the vote if that.

As long as they keep open borders in their platform, they will always be an insignificant force in the elections.

Yes, but the difference is, your daughter is a legal American. If she was an illegal alien, things would be entirely different. I don't mean to be snide, that is just the way it is.

I should mention that even though Libertarians don't do well at the polls, they do still manage to find their way into government. INS chief Ziglar is a professed Libertarian, who just mentioned recently that because of his philosophy he finds it difficult to carry out the mission of the agency.

Wow a whole 60 of you who constantly protest and are doom and gloom about immigration. That's less than 0.01% of the 80,000 people on registered on FR(and some of them are probably trolls from DU). But you all go ahead and scream that the world is coming to an end. There have always have been doom and gloomers on immigration like you and there always will be.

You all were the people 200 years ago who worried about the German invasion, and 100 years were afraid of the Irish, Italians, Jews, and Poles.

¿Are we looking at Dems and other Bush-haters in Repub clothing on this thread? The operatives are getting slicker all the time, or so it seems.

Anyway, we can root out all the illegals and deport them ASAP -- raise your hand if you think that's ever going to happen.

We can keep them illegal and perpetuate the Underground Economy -- which is draining us and we are all paying the bill.

We can make the illegals living here legal and part of the tax paying mainstream since we didn't have the will to keep them out in the first place -- it's the cost of not being vigilant.

We can get serious about stopping this problem and take the necessary steps to end it --- from this point on. Unfortunately, we can't undo what has been done -- we can't unexplode a bomb.

Bush knew along what Ziggy was, and agrees with him 100%. Why else would he nominate a door man for such an important position? And given what's going on today, there isn't anything more important than immigration. It's a disaster.

It presumably also would require the person to have been in the United States by a certain date and have filed a declaration with the INS from an appropriate sponsor, such as a relative or employer, AND PAY A $1,000 PENALTY.

Just hold your breath - it is going to happen. There were several post a few months ago about other groups of illegals that were watching the situation with the Mexicans. The groups were mostly Laotian, Cambodian, and Vietnamese.

They said that if Bush grants amnesty to Mexicans, they want the same treatment. Which way will Bush go on this one?

Our President has become the chief lobbyist for illegal Mexican "rights" in our country, despite the fact that lax oversight of our borders and our immigration procedures contributed to the atrocity of 9/11.

Just imagine what will happen if the terrorists sneak in a dirty bomb/nuke, over the border. Then he'll invite not only more Mexicans, but Peruvians, Columbians, Brazilians....well, come one, come all.

I am VERY disappointed in Bush. He only cares about getting more votes, but this is sheer stupidity, they will not vote for him. And neither will I if he goes through with this amnesty plan.

I have to admit that our banker didn't mention non citizens, so you're probably right. That's the way these traitors in Congress write their legislation.
