Just go ahead and admit that you were incorrect in your use of the term "universally accepted" and be done with it

~~~~~~~~~
No, I'm not incorrect. Among people of their age that attended church regularly, in midwestern farming communities, it was the RULE. I don't understand why people refuse to aknowledge this FACT. Are they ashamed of it, or afraid of it, or what?
P.S. I went to church with my grandparents.
I'm not responding to your insults. If you want to be sneaky and clever and make short, back handed comments, you'll just have to continue your debate with yourself.
Maybe when he used 'psychotic' it was a poor choice of words but are you saying, Dan, that if you want to make love with your wife and she would rather not that night that you are within your full marital and Biblical rights to take her anyhow?
If you'd said, it was "universally accepted" among your grandparents' peers, or if you'd said it was "universally accepted" in midwestern farming communities in your grandparents' time, you would have been correct. As it was, you didn't add those qualifiers; therefore, the direct quote we're discussing, as you originally wrote it, is incorrect.
Besides, AppyPappy apologized for calling you a liar, so why do you continue with this? Just let it go!
That actually happened to me!
While living in FL with now x-wife,one night after having sex, we had gotten into an argument about finances.It was getting late and I didnt want to argue any more so I went into spare bedroom to sleep.Well lo and behold,next morning I was awakened by county sheriffs and told to step outside with officers as my wife had said I physically abused her.
After the other officer was inside talking with wife,he came out and told me I was under arrest for sexual battery(spousal rape).While on the way to jail,police informed me that the charge would never stick yet they had no choice since wife signed an affadavit stating it happened.
To make a long story short,I was booked and held on $100,000 bond.I was eventually released (after spending 28 days in county jail)because state could not prove its case,yet I will always have that arrest on my record.
Needless to say that wife and I never reconciled after that and have been happily divorced for 5 years now.
I trust you'll understand if I pass up this glowing opportunity to discuss my sex life with you.
But as to the topic: when you marry, you make promises. Being sexually available to your spouse, putting his/her needs first, is within the realm of promises you make when you stand up there in front of God and everyone. If you are not willing to deliver, you are in violation of your own promises.
Same to me! We had an arguement and I went to bed. About 2 hours later I was woken by a knock on the door. I went down and it was the cops! (She was in the bathroom and I had answered the door.)
They said they were there because she had called to say I had physically attacked her. I told them I hadn't and luckily one of the cops knew me from an unrelated incident in the neighborhood.
When she came down she was drunk and told a story that was so wild, along with her obvious condition, they believed me. The next day she barely recalled she had done it!
We are still "married" but not for long, in process now.
