I think you're probably correct.

I always give the benefit of the doubt to LEOs even of the Federal type (considering the many mistakes made the last decade by them) when this stuff happens but I always reserve judgement until all the facts are in.

I was even late in my outrage over Waco due to this.

I don't think we should stop trying to apprehend bank robbery suspects and in that case this crap will happen again because humans are involved.

How bad of a goat roping this was (that led to the shooting of the kid) remains to be seen. Obviously an innocent kid driving down the road is going to react funny (read delayed reaction) when a bunch of armed, non-uniformed people start shouting at him and forcing his car off the road.

What are our options for stopping this sort of thing from happening again aside from getting better people on the job or creating a magic pill that removes SNAFU from our daily lives?

That is also why it is a show of arrogance not to release a name and photo of the shooter. There is no drug cartel or mafia threat to the agent. There IS the threat that people everywhere will treat him like dirt for the rest of his miserable existence. Face recognition technology will soon be widely available, and it will be impossible for scum like Horiuchi to hide forever. Eventually, the only "safe" place the Fibbies will be able to keep their F-ups is at Gitmo, right next to the Taliban cages.

Some options for stopping this kind of thing is to take away all military weaponry from FLEAs. They do not need M4s. They aren't soldiers and if they were, they wouldn't be enforcing domestic laws. Another option is to get the federal government completely out of law enforcement by repealing unconstitutional federal criminal statutes.

The Constitution spells out exactly where Congress may pass criminal statutes. They have created this mess and they have to be the ones who undo it.
