Pearson to Get Over $100 Million To Help Hire Screeners at Airports

WASHINGTON -- The Bush administration, in the biggest contract disclosed so far in the federal takeover of air-safety programs, will pay more than $100 million to a test-scoring company to collect and process job applications from prospective air-passenger screeners.

The Transportation Security Administration, the new federal agency in charge of airport security, plans to pay NCS Pearson to evaluate and help winnow job seekers in what will be one of the largest government recruitment efforts in memory. NCS is the nation's largest test-scoring company, based in Eden Prairie, Minn., and a unit of London-based Pearson PLC.
