School suspends stabbing victim
CASHMERE, Wash.
A white student stabbed at Cashmere High School has been suspended, accused of making racist remarks to the Latino student charged in the attack.
Mike Placencia, 14, was charged in Chelan County Juvenile Court with first-degree assault and possessing a dangerous weapon on school grounds in the attack on Dane Montgomery, 16.
Montgomery was stabbed eight or nine times in the back on Feb. 21 just outside the school.
"Evidence suggests the boy who was attacked made some serious racial, racist comments toward the Latino boy," Principal Sam Willsey said.
"That's against the law, that's against school policy and that's something that resulted in serious punishment."
While school officials wouldn't say how Montgomery was punished, citing privacy laws, the boy's father, Jerry Montgomery, said Dane was suspended after the attack.
He said the family was appealing the school's decision.
"The school district has tried and convicted him of making racial slurs or whatever without any evidence," Jerry Montgomery said Friday.
Placencia told investigators that Montgomery had made some ethnic slurs during a computer class. Montgomery admitted calling Placencia names, said sheriff's Capt. Jerry Yonaka.

"That's against the law, that's against school policy and that's something that resulted in serious punishment." Do these "educators" even care or know anything about the US constitution?

No.

The parents of this victim should get busy and add Principal Sam Willsey to the list of those to be charged with felonies.
For one thing, ol Bubba there, Mr. Willsey, is fostering an atmosphere of violent assault with this kind of language.
That makes him as responsible as a beer joint that fails to hire a bouncer!

That's interesting. In college I had an issue with a black guy who lived in my suite. I spoke with the residential coordinator (who's black as well), he said he will talk to him.. anyways, few days later, that guy kicked my door and said "white devil", I went to the coordinator again.. He told me that "as a brother" he somewhat understands my suitemate, and I told him straight out that if I called him a nigger there would be helicopters overhead and tv crews everywhere.. He felt stupid and ofcourse tried to deny it, but I made my point that day..

"White student suspended for making racist remarks. Latino student who committed a violent and life-threatening hate crime against the white student (that will never be acknowledged as such), slapped on wrist."
Stop the world, I want to get off.
Disgusting. Another argument for home-schooling. Now the government schools are acting as judge and jury, bypassing basic civil rights.

I agree entirely with your post. This does encourage violence. The more we hear what public education is the more they sound like whistling orifices. The more we see the more they look like soft, hairless clymers.
Freepers, it's time to homeschool and/or set up small private neighborhood schools so that the parents beliefs and values can be taken into the next generation. Oh yes, they should also be single sex schools. The time has come to return to the past when things were less crazy than they are now.

Montgomery was stabbed eight or nine times in the back on Feb. 21 just outside the school. It's no longer just a metaphor.

I guess the attacker will walk and the victim will have to pay out due to a lawsuit.

The principal shows no sympathy for the guy who was stabbed. This sends a wrong message. This school is headed for trouble. If I had a son or daughter in that school, they'd be pulled from there. That school is out of control with an idiot principal like that.
PC'ers don't know how to run anything.

We're rapidly approaching the day when the two liberal goals of establishing penalties for 'hate crimes' and eliminating penalties for physical crimes will mean the only crimes punished are of the thought variety. This incident is simply more evidence.
To: CWRWinger
Exactly what law is that? Someone tell this principle about R.A.V. v. City of St. Paul 505 US 377. You know if all the stupidity in this great nation of ours was harnessed, there would be no need to research cold fusion.
To: CWRWinger
This principle is typical of many of the well meaning, but ignorant, people working in public education who enforce political correctness with totalitarian fervor. Apparently this cheeseball doesn't have an email address, but the vice-principle of the school can be reached at the following address:(he can pass on the message) tboyle@clovis.esd171.wednet.edu

I believe in common law there is the concept of "fighting words."
Of course the stabber should be thrown in prison because of the over-reaction and murder attempt.
I would think being stabbed is punishment enough so I never understood the concept of layering on more. But then I'm not a liberal.
However, in less fatal-attempting fights, "fighting words" probably should be taken into account when punishing the physical aggressor.

Liberals care more about hurt feelings than dead people. This is Zero Tolerance taken to PC extreme ridiculousness.

Using the Spokesman Review as a source explains the inaccurate statements in this report. First, the 14 year old boy is safely in jail where he will remain pending investigation. Second, the source of information about the racial slurs is the boy who was stabbed. He reported making the comments that led the younger boy to retaliate. The school had no option but to suspend pending a hearing given the boys confession. School meeting with students, parents, and community have gone a long way toward clarifying what happened for everyone but the Spokesman Review.

Here is a site for setting up Christian classical schools. Of course, if a group of parents didn't want a Christian emphasis, they could tailor the curriculum to their own needs and still provide a superior education for their children, free from the PC indoctrination that has destroyed the government schools: http://www.accsedu.org/

There's another principle in law. It's that mere words are never a provocation for an assault, let alone with a deadly weapon.
