Illbay has admitted publically that he called CPS on his own sister and was granted temporary parental rights.

I don't know the status of the case lately as he hasn't shared. I most certainly have a bias in such matters as I have kicked CPS out of my home and helped another family to shrug off their interference.

I think CPS is evil and believe that the government should never be allowed the power to tell us how we can raise our children. There is one caveat and that is when parents commit criminal acts against their children in which case it should fall under the jurisdiction of the police. The mere suspicion that a parent *might* abuse their child is not sufficient for any government agency including the police to step in and disrupt a family.

Much of this comes down to how the CPS unit for a given county conducts operations. Some are squared away, some are not.

Police are not equipped to deal with many of the issues arising from sexual or other forms of abuse involving children and parents/adult guardians. The issue is much more subtle than the government telling you how to raise your children. In these parts, you won't have a CPS problem if you spank a child for being bad. If you beat them silly, you will have a CPS problem. CPS will not intervene (in Western New York at least) based on "might".
