BREAKING NOW, KOGO........Unmarked Police Car just arrived at Van Dam's residence, breaking now.....reporter says very grim faced.....expecting that reason for visit is warning VD's of positive ID.
DA HOLDS NEWS CONFERENCE THIS AFTERNOON
Authorities expect to announce today that the body of a young girl found dumped off a road in East County is, as law enforcement officials already believe, that of 7-year-old Danielle van Dam. Dental records will likely be used to make a positive identification. San Diego District Attorney Paul Pfingst said last night that all the evidence points to the body being that of the second-grader who had been reported missing on Feb. 2. ``We believe that Danielle van Dam's body has been found,'' he said during a news conference with San Diego police Chief David Bejarano. Susan Wintersteen, a family friend, said this morning that the Van Dams are ``going through unspeakable pain and loss right now.'' But she said that the discovery of the body ``has provided them with the closure that they so desired."
Stay tuned to KOGO for live coverage of the DA's news conference this afternoon between 4pm and 5pm.

An unlocked RV would be a convenient place for any one to take a child --living or dead-- (Especially since it was in the neighborhood.) The police must look at all angle of every case. Even if the child was dead in his RV and he disposed of the body it doesn't mean he killed her. The parents, their guest must also be investigated. Just how protected were the children from their parents life style?

If I recall correctly, when Danielle first disappeared, didn't the parents' point the finger at Westerfield?Hmmmmm......I hadn't heard that. If so, it's kind of strange. Why would they suspect him if he was unfamiliar and apparently didn't stand out unusually in the neighborhood?

It would be a perfect place to spread some evidence too. Although unlikely, it is possible.
A lot has been made about the cleaning and bleaching of the RV. But I've heard that people who know Westerfield say he's a neatnik. I've heard others say that it is common to bleach out an RV after use to keep it free of mold and mildew. Who knows?????
I guess the "trail" all fell together too neatly and quickly to seem right to me. I keep waiting for something to surface that tells us more.

Pfingst said that because of the condition of the body, the coroner was unable to determine the cause of death. At all or yet? Coroner's Offices have found cause in worse scenarios than this.

I want to go personally and strangle the bastard myself. To kill a little girl, the sicko. May God give him the punishment he well deserves.

Thanks for clarifying for me. Could be I mixed up my recollections with another case.
To: BunnySlippers
One of the authorities was asked if the Van Dams had actually invited Westerfield into the home or if he BROKE inOk so if they invited him in for whatever reason, it's ok that he abducted and killed this poor girl?.
Or maybe if they invited him in for some immoral reason, they are to blame for what this sick bastard did?
I'm obviously not as intelligent as you.
To: spectre
Well, it was on a thread somewhere that the people who run the nearby casino notified the authorities that Westerfield was a member. That may have led them to conduct a search in the area. Or, depending on what was said, to inspire them to search it again.

I was thinking the same thing. Her teacher at school must be going crazy.
My uncle lost one of his kindergarden students about 20 years ago. I believe that she was murdered by her uncle.
Can you image having the job of trying to explain this to the other students in her class. It must be a mind numbing experience. How much do you tell? How can it be explain without frightening the other students? Is she in heaven? Ya got to know the kids are asking lots of questions. These are questions that the parents should be the ones to explain but they may not have the answer themselves. I don't envy the teacher or the other parents in that class.

"Had Brenda been home with the children, instead of being out committing disgusting and indecent acts, Danielle would be alive today."Brenda van Dam, by ALL accounts, was at a local dinner club with some friends.
By all accounts, she played pool, had a few drinks, and may have danced.
Which of these acts do you find "disgusting and indecent"?

"...just as the VDs are denying their perverted "lifestyles" to the police and the media."Make up your mind will you?
I thought that the official rumour was that she was guilty because she DIDN'T deny the lifestyle.
