Humane execution is as much for *us* as it is for the convicts. The death penalty is a fit penalty for some crimes, and a wonderful deterrent against futre criminality by the one executed. No need to coarsen our society by painful executions. FReegards

The only reason why the death penalty isn't a stronger deterrent to these horrendous crimes is that the appeals process can extend the life of the criminal 20 years. A guilty verdict must be followed by swift punishment if we are to send a message to the "animals" of society.
