You laugh, but the federal government actually asked the paint industry to "voluntarily" regulate its use of buckets. The end result is a universal child drowning sticker that can be applied to the bucket. They had wanted a more agressive solution, such as a bucket that tipped over when a child dove in, or a bucket that biodegraded over time. Thankfully, drier heads prevailed.
I always wondered why they were attacking buckets...which were designed to hold paint, etc., not water...yet they had no intention of attacking the tub, toilet, and sink industries, and their killer products.
