FAIRFIELD (AP) -- There's a chicken living in Fairfield that might make a good candidate for the popular television show "Survivor."
The gold and gray hen, known as Chicky, had already survived deep snow, cold nights in tall trees and a relentless attack by a chicken hawk.
After all that, Chicky endured more than a week under the hood of a pickup truck. Its owner, Mark Williamson, had no idea his missing fowl was there as he drove back and forth to work in Waterville.
Williamson calls the once homeless hen "the chicken with nine lives."
She now has a small wooden coop, plenty of hay and a diet of store-bought grain. And with all those amenities, she's begun laying eggs.

Some chickens will do anything to get across that danged road.

Sounds like it was almost a foul ending.

She was egged on by the other chickens to do this. She was probably in a fowl mood when discovered under the hood.

The gold and gray hen, known as Chicky, had already survived deep snow, cold nights in tall trees and a relentless attack by a chicken hawk. In the future, will animals be charged with attacks on other animals? Mark my words......

Vietnamese woman chops dog meat in a Hanoi market February 8, 2002 . Dog meat is a popular dish in Vietnam, especially in the cool winter months leading up to the Lunar New Year or Tet as it is called in Vietnam. The next lunar year begins on February 12, 2002. Like in Korea, where controversy has raged over the eating of dog meat ahead of the World Cup soccer final, dog meat is reputed to provide stamina. For Vietnamese people, it is also thought to chase away evil spirits. Souls of dead PETA people, no doubt.
