NEW DELHI: The brutal way in which WSJ journalist Daniel Pearl was murdered is a clear indication of the involvement of the terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed, which is headed by Masood Azhar and Omar Sheikh, say senior security officials with the Intelligence Bureau.
Pearl's throat was slit from behind by his abductors and, going by media reports, he was subsequently beheaded.
This is similar to the manner which 27-year-old Norwegian Hans Ostro was beheaded by Al Faran terrorists in July 1995 and the way Rupen Katyal, one of the passengers in the hijacked Indian Airlines aircraft IC 814 was killed in December 1999.
That the Al Faran was a front of the Jaishwhich, at that time, was called the Harkat-ul-Ansarwas confirmed when the kidnappers demanded the release of Azhar, who was incarcerated in an Indian jail at that time.
The Al Faran had kidnapped Ostro in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, along with five other foreigners.
The Narasimha Rao government in 1995 did not give in to the demands of the hijackers. Ostro's body was subsequently found beheaded with 'Al Faran' engraved on his body.
The hijackers of IC 814 too demanded the release of Azhar, and this time, the Atal Behari Vajpayee government gave in due to the pressure exerted by the families of the hostages. During the course of the hijack, Katyal's throat too was slit from behind and he bled to death.
According to officials, the similarity in the killing of Pearl, Ostro and Katyal indicates that the terrorists have been trained in a similar manner and, therefore, belong to the same outfit.
"One of the six foreigners kidnapped by the Al Faran in 1995, an American John Childs who managed to escape from captivity said that the terrorists used psychological torture against them. One of the means was slitting the throat of a sheep in front of the hostages," says an official.
Similaties have already been drawn between an earlier kidnapping of four foreign citizens in India and Pearl's abduction. Sheikh [Omar] is the prime suspect in the abduction.
The pictures of Pearl that were earlier released to the media had shown him handcuffed with newspaper cuttings in the background.
This was similar to the pictures of hostages that were released by Sheikh in India. Sheikh too had demanded the release of Azhar. The four hostages, however were lucky to be rescued after a shoot-out with the security forces.
Strange that someone who thinks as clearly as you do seems to be so ignorant of the basic tenets of Islam.
Violence against non-Muslims is an integral part of Islam, and is in fact an obligation under certain circumstances as in: when you can get away with it. You might want to do a search on "dhimmini" for starters.
The Koran, Sura 6, verse 85: "Strongest among men in enmity to the Believers wilt thou find the Jews and Pagans." Sura 9, verse 5: "Then fight and slay the pagans wherever you find them. And seize them, beleaguer them and lie in wait for them, in every stratagem [of war]." Then nations, however mighty, the Koran insists, must be fought "until they embrace Islam."
Let me give you another one. I read a story, here on FR, about one year ago -- regarding Muslim terrorists in Chetnia. Seems they captured a russian soldier, and sent a videotape back to the russians. On it they decapitated the very conscious and gurgling young man -- slowly, with a pocket-knife.
Your solution would make em' Extra Crispy indeed.
But why dirty your hands when a Few Dozen Daisy Cutters would do a better,
environmentally cleaner job?
It would even have the extra bonus of calcium mulch too!
Makes sense to me, how's about you?!
Barbarians..........plain and simple.
Muslims even admit that at least one of Mohammed's communications from "Allah" came from Satan.
Mohammed at one point states there are four Gods, Allah, and three female idols from the Kaaba. He takes this back later, says Satan tricked him ("oops, I plumb forgot about the whole 'monotheism' thing and couldn't tell one of God's communications apart from one of Satan's"), and the verses were struck from the Quran. That is the "Satanic Verses" controversy (the book by the same name deals with this, it was embarrassing enough that Muslims around the world decided they had to kill Rushdie).
People should see it to help them understand what these people are all about. Everyone who has been worried about the prisoners in Cuba should watch it also. I will not watch it again.
Is that what that was all about?
3. That is because those who disbelieve follow falsehood, while those who believe follow the truth from their Lord. Thus does Allâh set forth their parables for mankind. 4. So, when you meet (in fight Jihâd in Allâh's Cause), those who disbelieve smite at their necks till when you have killed and wounded many of them, then bind a bond firmly (on them, i.e. take them as captives). Thereafter (is the time) either for generosity (i.e. free them without ransom), or ransom (according to what benefits Islâm), until the war lays down its burden. Thus [you are ordered by Allâh to continue in carrying out Jihâd against the disbelievers till they embrace Islâm (i.e. are saved from the punishment in the Hell-fire) or at least come under your protection], but if it had been Allâh's Will, He Himself could certainly have punished them (without you). But (He lets you fight), in order to test you, some with others. But those who are killed in the Way of Allâh, He will never let their deeds be lost,[] 5. He will guide them and set right their state. 6. And admit them to Paradise which He has made known to them (i.e. they will know their places in Paradise more than they used to know their houses in the world).

My God, you are right. When beheaded you don't die right away. There has always been curiosity about this. I think it may have been France that someone, forget his name, was beheaded for a crime. Before being beheaded in the guilotine (sp) he agreed to blink his eyes as many times as he could before he died. If I remember correctly it was 15 times.
Horrible beyond words.
