My wife was just watching fox news when they were interviewing commie Michael Moore. He said that 'people should overthrow the Bush administration." The Goverment should hang him up on treason and sedition charges.

This is a republic, not a democracy. America has never been a democracy. get it straight
Quite the pedant, aren't we? Yes, you are right, The United States of America is a republic, I guess that blows tinybadger's whole argument, huh?
On the other hand, if we replace the word "democracy" in tinybadger's post with the word "republic", it still makes sense to me.

Michael Moore is a bloated bag of wind...he has about as much revalence as the bag of White Castles he scoffs down every other 15 minutes! I do not agree with Michael Moore's politics, but "Rodger and Me" is a great movie, and actually makes some very good points.. even if they do undermine the blind idea that the market is the solution to everything.. (something, like most blind ideas is not true).

This guy is the epitomy of a one trick pony. He made one half way decent film and hasn't repeated his success in decades. He's a sorry, pathetic has-been who feels as long as he stirs up peoples emotions he will remain in the news.
He sounds just like Ann Coulter, except she'd make a pretty skinny pony, and she never made a half-way decent film.

Come on, now, in a democracy criticism is necessary for the health of the system, what do you think political campaigns are a culmination of? The free flow of ideas from both sides (often critical) resulting in a choice by the informed populus. Michael Moore is crazy, but from what I know about him, he doesn't mean taking up arms and overthrowing the president (he is of course pro-gun control), he is just being critical to show his side. But we can't know because the quote is soundbitten off. Context! The liberals still are mad about our President getting in the white house, and would like him not to be their. But the democracy must stand.

You're splitting hairs; a republic is a type of democracy, one that works through representation.

What is it with these people who write a book and then are welcome guests on EVERY TV and radio show. Do the publishers PAY for these interviews? No one pays to get on and no one is paid to be on.
Major book publishers have PR people who push their authors. Major talk programs have producers who 'need' to fill the time.
Lesser publishers and self-published authors pay for ads in a bi-weekly publication which is given free to tv and radio producers. These authors usually end up on small-market programs.
I don't know why Fox puts Moore on (pronounced 'moron'). They really shouldn't especially since NPR ignores O'Reilly.
