I said formidable, which in strategic terms is destroy your war-making capability, not smoke a few cities. Horrible as LA and Seattle going mushroom would be, it is not a full strategic threat. Russia can, China can't.... yet.

Full-size nuclear war is only one of the dangers; there are a plenty of others.

At the moment, I'd discard the possibility of a full-scale war with Russia. I'd be much more worried if China offered to buy a few ICBM's from Russia (say, 1$bil/ICBM). For example, the ones that Russia intends to discard anyway.

I wasn't discounting the threat, merely putting it in perspective.

No global thermo nuclear isn't the only threat. Its just the one nobody wants to think or talk about. And its way more possible than you think. We can squish Iraq... Russia is a whole other ball o' wax.

It is already a common place. Please tell me why to be ex-intellegence of KGB for Putin while he was rank colonel in there isn't appropiate but to be the director(!) of CIA for George Bush senior is? Please name me the comminusts in today Russai's goverment. At least one? I bet you can't. There are none.

Puhleeez Serge, who said that George Bush Sr. being the director of the CIA was appropriate? I didn't, so don't go putting words in my mouth, ok?

In the 1999 elections for the Duma, the KPRF (that's the name for the Communist Party of the Russian Federation) took 113 seats (top placing party) and 24.3 percent of the total vote/representation in the Duma. Their top man, Gennadiy Andreyevich Zyuganov, was second only to Putin in the Presidential election, with Putin taking 52.9% and Zyuganov taking 2nd place with 29.2%.

So there you go, while the Presidential candidate did not win (obviously), he did place second which displays a large segment sympathetic to communistic ideals, as well as the KPRF taking the lead in seats in the Duma. So in stead of there being "none" as you claim, there are at least 113 known to the public at large.

Please stop assuming that I am coming out against Russia, I am not. I just think that the U.S. should tread carefully and not start assuming that the U.S. can just beat up on anybody it wants with impunity. I'm trying to say that there are consequences to actions that the U.S. is not considering when it starts beating its chest in war fervor, that's all.

Thank you, thank you very much. I'll be in the building all day. Please tip the waitresses, they work hard. G'night everybody.
