Sadly, considering the area and its demographics, she might have a chance. Hopefully, her personality will turn off enough voters. Her attitude during the post-election would have gagged a maggot.
What do you think, summer? what are her chances? You're closer to that area than I am.

I live in a nearby district (the 21st, Lincoln Diaz-Balart). Shaw's current distirct is one of the most liberal in the state. It begins in the North Miami Beach/Aventura area, snakes along the Broward coast to take in most of Fort Lauderdale and continues up the coast to Juno Beach, just north of Palm Beach proper. It covers three counties and has more Democrats than Republicans. Clay has therefore been liberal on many issues (Gun Control, gay rights, health care & other bennies for seniors, etc.). He has almost been defeated in the past two election cycles and would have lost in 2000 had it not been for absentee ballots. He was recently redistricted, however, and this should help him although there are still enough Democrats to put Roberts into office.

I've seen diagrams of that district. Gerrymandering, for ANY reason other than geography, should be a federal felony. There was a thread some time back showing some of the more outrageous examples. It made me sick, what the political whores will do to maintain power.

It made me sick, what the political whores will do to maintain power. I disagree. Gerrymandering is one of the wonderful aspects of being the political party in power at the local level. It has helped us in Michigan, Florida and Pennsylvania, among other states. It is a problem in the south for the GOP, as many fools continue to vote Dem locally thinking that the Jackass party is that of Robert E. Lee.
Thanks to gerrymendering, we will have 4-5 Republican reps in Southeast Florida, the most heavily Dem region of the state.

Okay, Palm Beach County voters, remember -- vote for #2 on the ballot, no matter what it says!! It doesn't matter whether you can read or write, just put a dent in the card. Then, when the voting's over, we'll claim "Foul" and get numerous recounts. Oh, I forgot -- we already did that.
Roberts was the most embarrassing display in the entire 2000 Election.

Sadly, considering the area and its demographics, she might have a chance. Better put a Pat Buchanan oval in a strategic location on that ballot.

Re your post #4 - She may well win, since Palm Beach County is so different from the rest of FL, and often seems to resemble a separate country.

Re your post #9 - LOL! I don't have anything to do with anyone's official campaign, but I imagine if you contact her office and tell them you want to volunteer, they would be glad to have you! :)

Yeah, but you know, I wonder now if she angled for all that tv time back that because she knew in the back of her mind she would eventually run for office. One thing she got out of Nov 2000 is plenty of name recognition for herself. For other candidates of her relatively low stature, that wkind of recognition could cost lots of money.

Literally and figuratively. But a Hillary nonetheless.
