No I am not. We don't need "god Fearing" judges. We need a god fearing people. What we need are judges that will rule on the written law and not insert their own values. Perhaps you want religious judges to make up law based on their particular religious beliefs and not the will of the people? You are the one who is counter cultural. We are so used to judges making up law no matter how the actual law reads that when a conservative does it we applaud it. I may agree that a gay parent should never have custody over a straight one. But I will be dammned if a judge is going to tell me that! I want my judges to read the laws that we pass the way we intend. If the law says gays should not have custody then they better dammned well rule that way and not on their opinions. If the law says gay can have custody then I will work to change that law but I would be just as opposed to a judge who struck that down based on the bible than I would any liberal activist judge. Perhaps you want a theocracy - I don't.

If it is a spade you call it a spade. That judge is a true American. Thomas Jefferson himself called homesexuality a black evil.

Another interesting comment made by the judge is his statement about homosexuality being a "violation of natural law." The whole concept of Natural Law was hotly debated during the Clarence Thomas hearings. Additionally, our founders invoked this concept when they penned that we are "...endowed by our creator with certain unalienable rights." Basing a decision on natural law is not a new concept.

What about prostitution. Is it an inherent evil? Is there any moral line you can draw? Are we debating IF there's a line or WHERE is the line?

I sense some naivety here. All judges have a particular belief on which their judgment hinges. Liberal or not, they all state their particular beliefs quite customarily. Religion mentioned? Big freaking deal.

On that we agree. Many of the things we rail at here on FR, we lay at the feet of "leaders." But in our Republic, leaders don't arise as the result of a drunken rally in a Munich beer hall, nor a meteoric rise at the head of a vast army of plebians.

We elect them. When we elect good men and women, we get "good" government that is benign with respect to its own people.

When we elect bad people, we get... Well, we get pretty much what we decry today.

Have you read the entire court decision? Alabama law makes Homosexuality Illegal.

Why don't you read the entire opinion.
