Rather silly arguement with respect to asset forfiture by illegals, the assets that need to be forfeited are those of our fellow Americans who HIRE illegals.
Remove the cause of illegal immigration by destroying the culture of hiring illegals and they will export themselves.

What would you do about the fact that this would shut down the construction industry, highway repair, and agriculture, as well as hotels and restaurants all over the country?

We do need to end the practice of anchor babies. The INS should start at the housing projects in the SW and many other places where they'll find many many people (100% of many projects) not speaking a word of English. They aren't teaching their children anything about the US including the language ----they could deport the population of entire large housing projects because many of these people have not assimilated at all into America.
I'm moderate on this issue though because with those few cases where the family is speaking English and has obeyed every other law including our laws on auto insurance, never used a social handout service, and the kids are comfortable in American society but would be aliens in Mexico, I'm for letting them stay.

How about treating them as invaders and shooting them!

Your reasoning and ethical thought here is good, but it seems to me that only those illegals with accumulated assets here would be motivated to cash out and go. Those that send everything home they earn and live on the fringes and entitlements would stay. Only about 20 years on an unpaid prison work gang, 365 a year, would get their attention, and they would have to know of some illegal currently serving to believe it. Highly unlikely to happen.

This is a great idea. They continue to violate our laws because the payoff is too good. Assets should be confiscated from illegals, its the only way to provide a strong incentive not to spit on our country by violating our laws. Why should Mexicans get to come here illegally when other honest people wait in line, learn the language, history and become a citizen the legal way. The fact that their criminal and hateful conduct is not only tolerated but rewarded sickens me.

BUMP for Sabertooth. I think that all employers in the U.S. should be put on notice that if they continue to hire illegals, they will be slapped with a huge fine (millions). That should help to dampen their enthusiasm for slave labor.
Do we have a President or a Congress who has the stones to do this? No, they're bought and paid for to do just the opposite.

This is an intriguing idea. I think this is worth a try, but I don't think it would lead to a mass exodus.
Why I think it would affect only a small percentage of illegals: 1. A lot of illegals, I suspect, don't have much in the way of assets. Those that do will change their behavior, either by accumulating their assets back in their country of origin, or by arranging to place assets under someone else's name. 2. Those who do have assets will probably have some kind of phony documentation. And will also tend to know about lawyers. I don't know exactly how immigration hearings work, but there must be some sort of due process. All this means it will take lawyers and other resources in order to prove the government's case against these people.
I think it would be worth a try though I think it would touch only a small percentage of people. There would be some value in having a steady stream of these cases in the newspaper. It would reinforce the idea that illegal immigration is a criminal activity. And it's a step in the right direction.

It is also illegal for a them to work here, so every cent these alien invaders take is done so illegally
as is ever dollar of unearned subsides they're able to defraud from American taxpayers.Employment is the key. If they could not find work, they would not come here.
The penalty for hiring illegal aliens needs to be upgraded. We are at war. Hiring illegals provides aid and comfort to our enemies. It should be viewed as treason and punishable by death.
If Ashcroft were to prosecute for treason just one or two of the employers who most flagrantly violate our immigration laws, the deterrent value would be enormous.
I doubt that we would even have to actually execute any of them. In a few years, Bush could commute their sentences to life without parole.

Funny thing I noticed looking at the picture of those two guys caught in Naco, they don't look hungry to me. They seem to eating well. In fact, the one in front weighs more than me just by looking at him. I thought famine and poverty was causing them in desperation to cross our borders??

If there were national referenda, this would win in a landslide.
We're smart and resourceful. Why don't we join forces with whoever is most credible and has the most consistency and Moral Integrity on this issue -- Michael Savage's Paul Revere Society springs to mind? -- organize one?
