Central Florida is definately not the south. It's more like Northern Puerto Rico. However, I live in Orlando and do love it for it's own reasons. Pensacola, though, is my place of birth and I'll argue with anyone who claims North Florida isn't the south. Our claim to fame is the beautiful white sand beaches. Affectionately known as the "Redneck Riviera".

Just emailed this thread to my Dad who retired to the beautiful LA (Lower Alabama) town of Niceville, Florida. The Panhandle can definitely be considered the South. We lived in Pensacola a few years and loved it.
