I care about her because she cared about the people of the country she served, esp. during the times of crisis (London Blitz). It's very clear that she took her duty quite seriously and even now, suffered this injury because she was practicing getting in and out of a chair, so as not to be of a worry and be invalided. Most of her generation did NOT want to be perceived as invalids; this is a huge matter of pride to the many of her generation. My own grandmother (God rest her soul) was very much the same way.

Very well said. I made the mistake of going to the other thread. I read a few messages, made a reply and promptly left. I don't care to read such hateful, nasty trash. It's nice to know from reading this thread that there are some decent people here on FR.
