The only thing that makes sense here is the father called the alarm company and told them it was a false alarm. Otherwise they would have either send somebody out,or called the cops.
I think we can all agree that if you wake up in the middle of the night to find a door open and that your alarm was tripped, and you don't check your children (the girl being a sleepwalker, no less) to see if they're OK, that is not the most parentally responsible act, wouldn't you say?
I'd say it's totally inexcuseable. This doesn't mean he was a accomplice,though.
Whether they were having an orgy or playing chess in their garage is immaterial to their irresponsibility for not checking on their kids.
Absolutely agree 100% here. This should be as automatic as putting your pants or glasses on. It's inexcuseable that he didn't check on them.
I never said the father was an accomplice! I said he was irresponsible. Please don't get me mixed up with someone else. I'm not one of the ones who say their lifestyle caused the girl's abduction. Basically all I know is that the girl's gone, the parents were irresponsible on that particular night and that the parents are swingers. That's as far as I'm willing to go right now. I haven't connected any of those points together to say that any one of those factors led to any other factor. But I'm also not discounting the possibilities out of hand, and there are lots of possibilities in this case.
