People use their judgments all the time. It's how we are. When you see somebody for the first time, you form an impression, when you see someone similar to their dress/behavior a few minutes later, your impression becomes more solidifed. Then you start to notice a pattern of behavior associated, say, with your first impression,i.e, their clothes, hairstyle, jewelry, or the lack of clothes, hairstyle, or jewelry. Lots of those first impressions, or hunches, are probably right. Some aren't. But who you associate yourself with increases the likelihood that you take on the behavior/lifestyle of your associates, at least to some degree. Having a promiscuous lifestyle opens a person up to lower quality people, or lower moral people, or higher likelihood of drug people, etc. That's just the way it is.

Actually, from the self-professed swingers I've met, I would say that the situation is quite the opposite. On average they seem to have far more self-confidence than the general population. I don't know if it is true in the general case, but it is what I've observed. Those people are hardly lacking in the self-esteem department, perhaps because they've obviously gotten past any self-image insecurities they may have had to become involved in the swinger scene to begin with.
