DJ FBI/Terror Alert -2: Attack May Come Early As Tuesday

WASHINGTON (AP)--The FBI issued an extraordinary terrorist alert Monday night, asking law enforcement and the American public to be on the lookout for a Yemeni man and several associates who might be plotting a terrorist attack as early as Tuesday.

The FBI scrambled to put the warning out after information emerged that one or more people were involved. Officials said the intelligence, while deemed credible, was not specific about possible targets.

The alert identified one possible attacker as Fawaz Wahya al-Rabeei, a Yemeni national born in Saudia Arabia in 1979. It listed about a dozen associates of al-Rabeei.

This might sound sick...but here it goes anyway. I am of the opinion that this is all mis-information again and nothing will happen.Something tells me when these alerts come out they are past due. These kat's at X-Ray could be telling them any day or thing to go after and meanwhile the real day or days are being planned and acted out on.America has not gotten the wake up call yet and when we do we will know it.

I am of the serious opinion that 9-11 was just the coming attractions and the real show will be in the hundreds of thousands worldwide.Think Barbara Lee,Danny Glover, and Tom Daschle will be speaking about anything then? No. Because more than likely these terrorist scumbags have been doing timing studies and research on response.Our airports are still asleep,guards are tired and under paid, and our cargo is coming into port and only 25% is being checked due to man power and money shortage.

I can tell you all one thing...whenever the next hit comes...it is gonna be hell on Earth for a long time.Do I think it will launch us into a World War III ? No. But I honestly think finally then the P.C. crowd and anyone with the wanting to defend these terrorists will not be out because they will either be dead themselves or be related to someone who is.

The thing about New orleans is that there will be hundreds of thousands of people half naked, drunk and doing god knows what,,and there is no way there can be security at mardi gras, no way, too many people. And the river runs right thru the edge of the Quarter where the parades will be going. It gives me chills. A group coming by boat from the Caribbean or a group driving from Mexico would have a straight shot across the interstate into the City. And there are gobs of petrochem industries right on the river along the levee down to Baton Rouge,,huge petrochemical complexes right there on the river. I live near Exxon, Union Carbide, Novartis, etc,,an explosion at Exxon would devastate Baton Rouge.

Might be nice if they could narrow down the geographical area a bit. I mean, if they're planning a hit in California, what good is it gonna do to be wary in Arkansas. If they know enough to know who, surely they have some clue where. I don't mean to seem like I'm making light of it, but I am concerned that if they keep issuing these generalized warnings that there will soon come a time when we don't pay attention to them any more.

It just hit me,,Yemenis,,I hadn't even thought of anyone who wasn't Saudi or Paki. And at Mardi Gras everyone has on masks. The anthrax remark upthread really gave me a chill. My daughter and grands are driving out of new orleans tomorrow to stay with me for the day just in case. I don't know,,a day with the grandsons versus a terrorist attack,,they are pretty close..just joking people.

From what I hear about security during the SuperBowl (and it wasn't just in the SuperDome), people were being frisked at every corner in the French Quarter. I know, I know, during Mardi Gras you get frisked anyway, but there were cops everywhere and they were checking everyone.

OK, other than look for a person we don't have a picture of, and watch for anything odd ( but we're not quite told what "odd" is), what can we do? And this is not a joke, I really an asking. I feel concern.

This is a real alert, FREEPer friends. Not a joke. Call me Mr. Sensitive, but I don't believe the AG would green light this if it weren't serious, especially this late in the day.

Please take it in stride, but with a bit less levity...please? No telling where these jackals may try to murder innocent Americans.
