Then the people at the Penatagon say "We have no information about [insert topic here]" and that's good enough, isn't it? After reading the Independent (UK) and seeing "jouralists" report Taliban propaganda as "fact", and considering this is the NY Times, as close to the Independent as I've seen on our shores, I'd give the Pentagon the benefit of the doubt at this point.
Perhaps you choose to believe the US military are babykillers and beat up 60 year old men...I do not.

Having grown up in a military town, heard more than my share of bragging about certain actions, and coming across some few people who had big-time problems, and a few others who were highly decorated vets, I recognize there's a wide spectrum of people in military service. Most are honorable, some are not.
