Need Advice on Weapons Purchase
Marine Inspector | 02/09/02 | Marine Inspector

Posted on 02/09/2002 9:26:12 AM PST by Marine Inspector

Hello Everyone,

I am currently in the market to purchase a personal handgun, and would like some advice on what would be a good choice. The only requirements I have are that it must be a .40 S&W and be small and concealable. If you have any experience with a weapon that looks like it would meet those requirements, please post and let me know.

Thanks,

Marine Inspector.

I'm not at odds with the NRA, I'm just no longer a paid member, and for some reason that makes people think I'm anti-gun.

You really need to reread your statements on the other thread.

IF you read your American Rifleman magazine or any of the other publications the NRA has, you would note that there is a phone number that you can call to remove your name from the contributers list.

Give money to anyone .......the surest way to make sure you'll keep hearing from them....they're like the Duracell bunnies.

Maybe I misunderstood that statement

That ones easy. Gun Control is taught at every NRA range and course.
Breath control, trigger squeeze, etc.

Actually I think Dubya (whom I supported ...ie ..money and whom I still like quite a bit) is not as Conservative as Jolly Rodgers and Wardaddy (and over half of Free Republic) would like. But then who is ....that could get elected?

Who is, that could get elected? That's the rub. Probably nobody. We are on a continual descent to the left. The electoral process is corrupt and I'm to the point where I only vote in self-defense.

I bet as an Immigration LEO, you're pissed Bush hasn't done more about immigration....if I surmised correctly that time then we have something to agree about.

I we ever meet, he would certainly get an earful. He did put a good man in charge, but they are moving way to slow on the reorganization and the closing of the border. IMHO.

Just get you a TAURUS 38, or 357 six shooter pistol. Sometimes they are sold in newpaper Sunday classified ads under Sporting Equiptment. They will feel real good to your hand!

Well..I'm still pragmatic....not that it makes me proud but I prefer to go kicking and screaming. You're right...the worm's turned....it's more about stemming the tide than reversing it. I had hoped the tragedy of 9-11-02 might have a silver lining by shaking our nation up from this stupor and for a nanosecond or so it looked like it might but now we're back to the same old sh!t. It'll take a cataclysm of horrific proportions to stop the onslaught of political correctness and victimhood etc.

" Making it easier to go shooting than it is to go bowling .."

It's not easy to go shooting? What do you want me to do, pick you up and still pay for the gas money? Oh, I forgot. I live in Texas where we just about destroyed the dem party so the republican party signed a range protection act with the help of the NRA. And we defeated the rest of the gun bans also with the NRA. I used to go to 5 matches a month and 4 of those were NRA sponsored. Now I only go to 2 matches a month but my Dillon just flipped over 10,000 rounds made in the last 18 months. That's only one caliber and most of those were draw and fire one shot and re-holster. If I go to a IDPA match it isn't NRA sponsored but the club is Affiliated with them plus the TSRA. Here in the North Texas area, I drive past gun ranges to go to gun ranges.

You've got a few years on me so you'd likely win out in the membership race.

No, I am not against the NRA. However I am opposed to some of their approachs and practices (cronyism, inappropriate tactics, gradual compromise). In spite of this it seems self evident to me that I cannot effect change from without, so I remain within and pursue what ends I can. When the elections roll around, I try to vote accordingly. As for how successful that has been, I shall leave that up to the philosophers. Beyond that I try to opine my stance unto other members when I can.

FWIW I'm also a charter member of JPFO (though I be a gentile..)

As for "El Sordo", I swiped it from Hemmingway. I am deaf as a post, so that does help authenticate things.

The last time my Senator's office called, they said he needed my donation so he could vote pro-gun on some pending legislation. I told them I expected him to vote consistent with the constitution without my paying him to do so.

I would have loved to see the look on their faces, when you made that comment. Classic. LOL.

sorry, gun tests is a joke. They have no standard test procedure, just give the guns to some guys of unknown repute and have them shoot the gun. I'd rather take gun advice from chuck schumer.
