What was left undone was the complete destruction of the Iraqi military, in particular Colin Powell's persuading Bush I against the advice of Schwartzkopf to stop the air attacks on the retreating Iraqis and the failure to require the destruction of the Republican Guard.

Success in war is the result of recognizing, and taking advantage of, the opportunities that present themselves which cannot have been forseen. The collapse of Iraqi resistance and the disintegration of the Iraqi military was one of those opportunities.

To argue that because it wasn't specifically enumerated on some sort of to do list or job description (your words), taking advantage of the opportunity to destroy Iraqi military capablity completely, reflects an utter lack of strategic sense. IMHO, destroying Iraq's military to the point where it would have been overrun by Iran probably was a factor in the decisions made at the time, and to me made perfect and sober strategic sense.

please explain to me where they are getting enriched uranium ... or weapons-grade plutonium ... since the Israelis destroyed their ability to make it ... do you have proof? ... show me one finished warhead taken out of Iraq ... or ever shown ... it's a complex process that took the Israelis years and $500 million per year (estimated by some) to finally achieve it ...

I rather doubt Iraq has fission nor fusion weapons ... period ... bring solid proof of EXISTING WEAPONS, not just components, like high-speed triggers, if you have it ... if not, don't bother me ...
