CNN interviewing passenger that claims the bottom half of the door failed...
This is not surprising if the retrofit 'security bars' on this plane were of the type I had seen on TV. These bars look like a 'security device' on might order from Fingerhut.

co-pilot opened cockpit door and hit the man with the fire axe. Then passengers subdued the man. Sink the spike into the brain-pan housing group and he won't need to be subdued.

Well IF the crew did open the door without the door failing, then that crew member who open the door should be FIRED immediately!

Have all of these incidents aboard airlines increased since 9/11 or are we just hearing about each and every one, now?

"Also heard on Cnn that someone in the cockpit hit him with an axe..."By whatever means necessary.
What about the guy's name?
Any clue as to nationality by any chance?
Or, has our Lamestream media deemed that little detail as unimportant?
...could be they've a nut, is all.

As the airliner pushed back from the gate, the flight attendant gave the passengers the usual information regarding seat belts, etc. Finally, she said, "Now sit back and enjoy your trip while our captain, Judith Campbell and crew take you safely to your destination."
Joe sitting in the 8th row thought to himself, 'Did I hear her right; is the captain a woman? I think I better have a scotch and soda.'
When the attendants came by with the drink cart, he said, "Did I understand you right? Is the captain a woman?"
"Yes," said the attendant, "In fact, this entire crew is female."
"My God," said Joe, "I'd better have two scotch and sodas. I don't know what to think of all those women up there in the cockpit."
"That's another thing," said the attendant, "we no longer call it the cockpit. Now it's the box office."

Just heard on Fox that the cockpit door had actually been opened by one of the crew from inside and the passenger got inside for a time before being hit on the head with the fire ax. Why the door was even opened is beyond me, but it only shows that airline security still isn't what it should be. Under no circumstances should that door be opened. There were more than enough people in the passenger area to restrain this guy.

Add another orc to his total, what does that make, 43 ?

Nice axe. Unfortunately it appears that the co-pilot hit the would-be hijacker with the flat side instead of either of the "business ends".
Just kill the guy the next time it happens, m'kay people?

...after he tried to enter the cockpit during a flight from Miami... WHAT IS IN THE WATER IN SOUTHERN FLORIDA TO CAUSE ALL THE CRAZY PEOPLE IN THE WORLD TO BE THERE?????? Are Miami Vice re-runs on Middle Eastern and African TV causing S. Florida to be the prime focal point for terrorist related activities in the US? Are terrorists, just mad that in the CHAD, Butterfly Ballot, police stoped the black voters but don't allow the military to vote controversy that resulted in GW Bush's election Florida let them down?
What gives?????

And for goodness sakes WHY NOT? They are flying a missle if they wanted to kill people they don't need a lousy pair of nail clippers! Don't ask that question in public or you'll be arrested.
Ask the pilot who
did get arrested for pointing it out.

he said 'I am going into that cockpit - and they said 'no you are not.' Things sure have changed. Hijackers/terrorists now MUST deal with passengers. Before 9-11 passengers felt safer if they didn't do anything....that has forever changed.
