Maybe it was a fully automatic "machine gun" camera that the "credible" witnesses saw.
I guess this illustrates the difference between "credible" and "knowledgeable".

For Hartford Mayor Eddie A. Perez, the incident had surreal overtones.
And by surreal he meant "stupid and cowardly."

Talk about a show of force. I was listening to WDRC-FM this afternoon and they said they were shutting exits off of 84 EAST near the Capital. It's bad enought during rush hour. Must have been chaos down there.

It was amazing to listen to on the radio. WTIC (AM) broke into Rush for Colon (sic) & Bruce at least a half hour early and they stuck with it non stop until at least 6:30 PM.

Come on the! Eddie has only been mayor for 15 minutes ... he's hardly had a chance to find out where all the coffee makers are at city hall ... never mind discover his stupid and irrelevant side!

FREEZE! DROP THAT KODAK! DOWN ON THE GROUND WITH YOUR HANDS SPREAD OUT!
Ah, our tax dollars at work. Imagine the bill for this little event. $500/hour (at least) for Trooper-1 to hover over the LOB+State Troopers+Hartford Police+SWAT+overtime+employee pay while in lockdown...
At least my kids got a kick out of watching the helicopter. From a safe distance of course, I wouldn't want them getting their picture taken.

"...FREEZE! DROP THAT KODAK! DOWN ON THE GROUND WITH YOUR HANDS SPREAD OUT!..."Cameras don't photograph people...
People photograph people.

Come on the! Eddie has only been mayor for 15 minutes ... he's hardly had a chance to find out where all the coffee makers are at city hall ... never mind discover his stupid and irrelevant side! I went to a Hartford Chamber of Commerce breakfast meeting a couple of months ago when Geno Auriemma was speaking (the next day was LIEberman, I sent my brother. Listening to LIEberman and eating do not mix). It was the unveiling of the new "Hartford. New England's Rising Star" campaign. You know, that copy of Algore's campaign sign.
Anyway, Rowland led off, followed by Mayor Mike (still hung-over no doubt, but entertaining nonetheless), then Geno (who was great). Then came Eddie's turn. Talk about anti-climactic. Stuttering, muttering, semi-intelligible. Politics aside, as if that's possible, Peters was the city's best cheerleader. Eddie has a LONG way to go just to become a credible spokesman.

"Peters was the city's best cheerleader. Eddie has a LONG way to go just to become a credible spokesman."Just think of them as ribbon cutters, in cheerleaders outfits, running around Hartford in a chauffeured limo ... and you'll do fine. Always works for me! &;-)

"Lockdown". God, how I despise that term.

Oops, I blew the link to the original article.

Do you remember the good old days in CT when the only thing under lock down was the Enfield correctional facility...

Updated, more honest headline for the article.
Cameraman, Not Gunman, May Have Spurred Search
An investigation into the incident is being led by the state police Central District Major Crime Squad, which will try to determine if there was someone on the roof and what he or she may have been doing there, Vance said.
Ahhh, Connecticut, where our state considers the
imaginary posession of a firearm (too close to the
royal palace) to be a Major Crime, while our cities
rank among the worst in the nation for murder, rape,
burglary and assault.
The only major crime here was first degree criminal over-
reaction and felonious self-importance.
