I remember one time I walked up to (it was at work) and a couple of guys I knew were looking at a gun. It was some kind of .38 revolver, 3" barrel....Colt, I believe. (I inserted those details for the gun enthusiasts..not really relevant) Anyway, I wandered up to take a look, just in time to have it pointed at me..I said "Hey, watch where you are pointing that!!! The response??? You guessed it..."It isn't loaded." The person handling the firearm was trying to become a cop, by the way. I just looked at him, and walked away.
It is also worth noting that her weapon didn't go off when she dropped it, it went off when she picked it up. I'll bet she put her finger in the trigger guard when she did that.

Shouldn't the police talk to students about: Just Say Know or We are your friend when you need us, or Here is how to dial 911...??? NOT ...Yes, kids, this is my shiny new gun...what have these presentations come to?
I WILL handle firearm education with MY children, not the local police department.
This is very disturbing.
Post 76. My glock really did blow up in my hand using factory ammo in the middle of a match with many witnesses. Nor was there any indication of an overcharged round on the backstop. I figure it was a failure to go fully into battery, but with the slide far enough forward to engage the trigger. With the round not fully supported in the chamber, it blew out every moving part in the gun and mashed the mag out the bottom. That said, the chances of it happening have to be less than 1 in a million given the large number of glocks in the world, and the gun always manages to go bang, one way or the other. I still carry one, figuring I've had my one Kb!
Remember what the grabbers parrot, "Guns are bad, guns kill people." Reality is that this is the message picked up by the presstitutes and fed to the sheeple, who generally take what is fed to them. For all intents and purposes, you can throw the fact that it was a cop out the window. A gun was the story. Perception is reality in the PR war. Anyone with a gun in their possession, professional or otherwise, is harmed by a situation such as this.

How do you know it was a guy?
I had exactly the same thing happen with an Israli Galil of the 7.62mm variety. It hurt! The weapon evidently fired even when the bolt was not all the way closed and part of the casing exposed to the magazine. The reciever was split and bulged out about 1/4 inch.
Hostage Rescue Team (HRT) - Federal Bureau of Investigation
The FBI's Hostage Rescue Team is the primary unit responsible for counterterrorist operations within the United States.
HRT operations are directed out of the Strategic Information Operations Center, located on the fifth floor of the J Edgar Hoover Building in Washington DC. In times of crisis, the SIOC operates 24 hours a day and serves an effective intelligence collection and dissemination site as well as a centralized, albeit distant, command post. When in the field, HRT can be augmented by the local FBI division's Special Operations Group and even behavioral scientists from the Investigative Support Units (ISU). The FBIs Hostage Rescue Team (HRT) is tasked with responding to terrorist incidents within the United States.
A significant problem affecting HRT has been the issue of jurisdiction. For example, in the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, and 1996 in Atlanta, there was considerable discussion as to which units would respond. In the former instance, the Los Angeles Police Department SWAT team also entered the discussion, further complicating issues. Affecting the unit also is the recent decision to reduce the full-time status of HRT to a quarterly training status. It is not known to what degree this change has effected unit readiness or capabilities.
All members are skilled in close-quarters battle, hostage rescue (including special emphasis on negotiations), rappelling, long-range sniping, and unarmed combat. Some members may also have previous experience, such as SCUBA and even fixed and rotary wing aircraft operations.
There are regional units, also capable of responding, which are manned by former HRT operators. And while HRT is tasked primarily with domestic operations, their capability has recently been enhanced, permitting more use of the team abroad, to capture federal fugitives.
Hope this helps!
