It's so sad...

I am a hardcore pro gun nut, but I just cringe everytime I see a Glock, reguardless if its loaded or not.

I'm no gun expert, but why is a Glock that bad? Are they more likely to go off accidentally?

If true.. this is tragic.

My heart goes out to the little boy..and his family who must be worried sick. And, to the Policeman!!!!

Human error. Maybe even a case of stupid judgement or lack of. But again human. I imagine there are incidents of off duty Policeman hitting innocent kids with their cars too. Also lethal if used incorrectly. Doesn't make it fair.. but life has accidents.

Maybe we can start posting how often a Policeman/woman SAVES a kids life??? (Probably not enough bandwidth at even FR to handle all those!!)

Still a 2nd Ammendment advocate. This story is a tragic reminder that even those with exceptional experience,.. must never become complacent.

They will all be in our prayers.

This goes to show everyone that just because someone has a badge doesn't mean didly.

Everyone thinks that a gun in the hand of a cop is fine, but that a gun in the hands of us sheeple is the most dangerous thing in the world.

Let's get real. Every human is responsible for his/her own self defense. The cops look good but NO ONE should feel any safer just because they have the gun and you don't.

. The first friggin' thing you learn is to never point a gun at anyone, loaded or not, in a non-defense situation

BTW.. your absolutely right!!! Even an unloaded gun should be treated as if it is loaded..and the safety is OFF.

Sad case of easing up on what we all know you MUST do. And the sad consequences of it.

If this story is true, then the cop violated several rules of safe gun handling. To have done this in a setting where children could be harmed should call for severe punishment.

The only safety this gun has is incorporated into the trigger.

You disengage it by pulling the trigger, about 5 pounds of pressure is all it takes for this gun to go off.

Other Semi-auto loaders such as the Sig has no external safety so it incorporates a heavier trigger pull, plus it has a hammer, that if blocked will stop the gun from going off.

An example would be a Glock in a holster, if it hard enough could and has gone off, but the Sig would not.

But it couldn't have been a Glock. They are impossible to make go off unless you touch the trigger! Why they put one through a nuclear explosion while being dropped from the Empire State Building, and it didn't go off! It is absolutely impossible, unless you touch the trigger!

Gee, I don't know what you have against Glocks.

It's crap like this (stupidity) that gives gun owners a bad rep.

Why should it give gun owners a bad rep when it was a police officer who made this mistake? Note that the gun grabbers parrot how only the police and military should have guns.

BS!!

He was handling a loaded weapon!!!!

He pointed a weapon in the direction of a person

He pulled the trigger!
