That's a heavy burden for a child to carry. I hope he deals with it well, because what he did was certainly justified, and he is a hero.I don't think the boy will feel too bad for too long. It was definitely a righteous shoot, and the boy knows full well that had he NOT shot the man, both he and his mom would be dead. And he may not have been thinking of KILLING the man; probably more like just wounding him so that he would release his mom. So I don't think the boy will be feeling a whole lot of guilt, and I don't think he SHOULD!

My dad had a .367 at one time!!! He let me shoot it because I had enough target practice with other guns... The .357 wasn't all that bad I thought!!! Whats even heavier for a kick is a .50 Hawkens Muzzle loader with a 120 grains of Black powder!!! now THERES some PUNCH there!!! Believe you ME!!! Dad bought a Hawkens .50 Plains rifle once for the fun of seeing what it was like... He found that for a .50 at a 100 yards the best load was a 120 grains of powder

That young man has quite a future in the United States Marine Corps.

My dad, at one time back in the late 30s maybe in the first years of the 40s before WWII, had a relative in the Army who got a .45 ACP colt AUTO for him one time.... He supplied him with bullets via old Army pillow casings FULL of .45 rounds!!!Needless to say SECURITY WASN'T an army PRIORITY back then,ROFLMAO...
he said he LOVED theold semi auto but he said it had only ONE major design defect, as he said, ROFL, in his words, "IT KICKED LIKE A MULE!!!"LOL he poached not a few deer during his time as a fire lookout operater at the old KOZMOS lookout around Morton WA

"COMMON SENSE GUN CONTROL".... Being able to hit a .30 or 6MM Jap Cartidge, EMPTY OF COURSE!!!, at around 50- 100 FT!!! I'm able to do it because dad TAUGHT ME!!!! ROFLMAO we litterally BLEW not a few days simply shooting our guns behind the hills in Camp Grisdale WA!!If you didn't own guns or know how to shoot 'em you were considerred a FREAK in GRISDALE!!! ROFL

The boy will feel guilt even though he knows he was right.
He also will walk around knowing everybody who looks at him at school and in the neighborhood look at him as a killer.
Just because you were right to do something doesn't mean the human nature goes away.

I agree re: the .357 magnum. The only handgun that has ever "hurt" my hand was a S&W 5-shot hammerless .357. 5 rounds and the web off my hand was sore for 2 days!! I had a 12 gauge with an 11 inch barrel. That was one hand hurting gun. The breech opening mechanism was pure hell on the web between your thumb and finger.

I noticed the Tribune was careful to give out the address where this gun collection could be found -- twice. Lemme guess . . . It's a liberal paper? I hope Mrs. Gay has already moved AND changed her name. BTW, good shootin', kid! That was a gutsy shot.

A .367 is a .357 that's been shot a lot.

I bet the guys at the South Bend PD want to have a ticker-tape parade for that little fella. Rename a street in his honor.
I know someone's gonna say "or teach them how to shoot." So I might as well say it.

Someone ought to go tell Sue Gay that she should not be happy that the 11-year old killed Tony Murry. She should be despondent that this 11-year old had access to evil guns and shot and killed a living breathing human being.
She should be writing and calling her congresscritters and politicians and trying to find ways to amend herself for letting the 11-year old access to evil firearms. Maybe she should volunteer to work for Sarah Brady or VPC for free for the rest of her life.

In an arrest in November, Murry listed "drug dealer" as his occupation, according to booking records at the St. Joseph County Jail.Sounds to me like the kid will never again have to take out the trash -- he's already done it.
