What's shocking is that I see nobody from "our" side telling them to stuff it where the sun doesn't shine. But then again, maybe I'm not shocked. This is a "new day in America", after all.
Hannity and a NY cop are about to discuss this issue. should be interesting.
Forget it. We would look just like the Arabs, with their constant stream of rabid verbal hyperbole. We need to keep doing like we have been: Issuing plain spoken statements of our priorities and policy, and backing them up with action. It's a given that much of the rest of the world, including many of our allies, and especially their presses, will respond will frequent fits of bed-wetting alarm, but secretly they will be damn glad we are doing what we are doing.
In short we need to go along and ignore the peripherial bitching as much as possible. Our acknowledgement only legitimizes self-marginalizing America haters. Where response is necessary it should be calmly stated so as to contrast with the ludicrously emotional nature of the typical anti-American (anti-Western, anti-self-defense, anti-patriot, anti-civilization, anti-capitalist, anti-republican...) spew.
That's the rule of thumb. But as for the opening ceremonies, I agree with you. They should for damn sure be carrying that flag. Don't say anything, though, just do it.
