You haven't noticed all the U.S. soldiers all over the world where we want things like oil? Hmmm?

No I haven't.
Please point me at a source of pictures of U.S. soldiers in Indonesia, Venezuela, Nigeria, Mexico...
I'll just hold my breath here.

They may back down on the flag but there was also the request to tone down the patriotism at the Olympics.

The WTC flag may or may not be allowed at the Winter Olympics but I can safely say that I do not welcome the IOC or the Olympics in Houston

Don't welcome NBC's Olympic advertisers, either! That'll also hit'em where they hurt.

I'm not even reading all of this post. It makes me sick. Just let me say that I just got back from a local pub and no one, I mean, no one was interested in the winter olympics. And, there are some heavy business people there.

They feel sorry for the American athletes that have gotten this far only to be put in the fray of international politics and to be rooted against. I was shocked at their attitudes.

Frankly, I never thought about it before.

What is the "concept" of the Olympics?

I am paraphrasing from memory, but it went something like "a worldwide fellowship celebrating sports, sportsmanship and achievement free from national identity."

It has been quite a few years since I have seen it in writing.

Did they hold to that during the 1936 Olympics in Berlin?

The 9-11 tributes during the Super Bowl didn't seem to detract from the event.

The IOC should be staffed by people with enough cultural sensitivity and mental capacity to understand the difference.

The leftists in Europe perceive a rising American nationalism which is shaking them up. They will do everything to clip our wings to take us down a peck or two. I grant you that. The games of Berlin in '36 are etched in their memory. Carter pissed me off when he forced us to boycot the games in Moscow. Politicians of every persuasion have a tendency to use athletics to further national causes much like parents have a tendency to become too "involved" with their children's athletics. I say hands off, everyone. Let the kids play.

BTW, Most will never appreciate or come to know the personal sacrifices you've made for your sport.

Thought you may be a tenor but after seeing your profile I guess you're really a soprano.

Are we being used by an international anti-American press bent on scandal and selling their own papers? People around the world think we are represented by the filmmakers and reporters from AP. Lord knows that the American media doesn't speak for us. Who's claiming to represent Europe? Good people from all over Europe mourned with us on 9-11...and continue to wish us well. We have to be careful when reading any press reports - the divisive folks with less than noble intentions steer the international debate. They are liars and should be confronted. Yet we fall for their spin, again.

I live in Utah, I didn't buy tickets to anything, and I am glad! The IOC and SLOC can jam the Olympics so far up their backside that they choke on it!

Now, now.... For all their sins, There's more to France's story than that.

Ok. Ok. I'm sorry. "...the French surrender many hours after first hostilities......."

That doesn't much matter to me. It's an "American" thing. We were attacked, we were hurt, we were killed, but that doesn't matter to the Olympic committee. Stay the games, in all their glory. Fine, stay those games, and keep them in some kind of peace trust, for all of the "games" down the road. Ignore the loss that we have had. It's the decision of the Olympic committee, then sobeit!. We'll defend your decision, and we'll live by it. Further, we will provide those fine young men and women, to defend your athletes that compete. We'll "stand, and, deliver", when everyone else can't.

There is an American courage that you will NEVER understand. It's the courage that wins wars. It's the thing I'm made of, it the courage all of us are made of.

Well for starters, call your congressmen& senators and KEEP calling them! Write letters too and get petitions going to get us out of the un.Let your reps know that we need to end immigration, that we need a "Zero Tolerance Policy" on Illegal Aliens, and that we want our borders TOTALLY controlled or, failing that, CLOSED! Don't stop; keep calling& writing to them. Get rubber stamps made-up at stationary stores saying "Stop Foreign Ain", "Get the US out of the un", "Deport Illegal Aliens" etc. I had those stamps made up and I stamp all my outgoing mail with them. They make people think.

Well, I guess you're a Native American because the rest of us we are sons and daughters of immigrants. I am packing right now so I can leave this country for the rightful owners.
