Off topic: I recently inherited some thirty year old 12 guage shells. I have always heard that gunpowder deteriorates. Is this ammunition useful? Dangerous? Anyone know?

Back about when those shells were made, I was asking the rangemaster about a WWII era .30-06 round. He told me it was as functional as ever.
