Christianity and Homosexuality

Christianity and Homosexuality

The homosexuals and lesbians have gained considerable political and social momentum in America. They have "come out" as the term goes, left their closets, and are knocking on the doors of your homes. Through the TV, Radio, Newspapers, and Magazines, they are preaching their doctrine of tolerance, equality, justice, and love. They do not want to be perceived as abnormal or dangerous. They want acceptance and they want you to welcome them with open, loving arms, approving of what they do.

In the California State senate, several bills have been recently introduced by the pro homosexual politicians to ensure that the practice of homosexuality is a right protected by California law. Included in these bills are statements affecting employers, renters, and schools. Even churches would be required to hire a quota of homosexuals with "sensitivity" training courses to be "strongly urged" in various work places. There is even legislation that would make the state pick up the tab for the defense of homosexuality in lawsuits, while requiring the non homosexual side to pay out of his/her pocket.

The Christian church has not stood idle. When it has spoken out against this political immorality, the cry of "separation of church and state" is shouted at the "religious bigots." But when the homosexual community uses political power to control the church, no such cry of bigotry is heard. After all, it isn't politically correct to side with Christians.

What does the Bible say?

The Bible, as God's word, reveals God's moral character and it shapes the moral character of the Christian. There have been those who have used the Bible to support homosexuality, taken verses out of context and reading into them scenarios that are not there. Quite simply, the Bible condemns homosexuality as a sin. Let's look at what it says.

Lev. 18:22, "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination"

Lev. 20:13, "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltness is upon them"

1 Cor. 6:9-10, "Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God."

Rom. 1:26-28, "For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. 28And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper."

With such clear statements against homosexuality, it is difficult to see how different groups can say the Bible supports homosexuality. It doesn't. But when a group wants acceptance and the Bible is the Christians' handbook on morality, the homosexual agenda must try to make the Bible agree with its agenda. But it doesn't work.

Unlike other sins, this sexual sin has a severe judgment administered by God Himself. This judgment is simple: They are given over to their passions. That means that their hearts are allowed to be hardened by their sins. As a result, they can no longer see the error of what they are doing. Without an awareness of their sinfulness, there will be no repentance. Without repentance, there will be no forgiveness. Without forgiveness, there is no salvation.

Should homosexuals be allowed to marry one another?

In this politically correct climate that relinquishes morality to the relativistic whims of society, stating that homosexuals should not marry is becoming unpopular. Should a woman be allowed to marry another woman? Should a man be allowed to marry another man? Should they be given legal protection and special rights to practice their homosexuality? No. No. No.

The Bible, of course, condemns homosexuality. It takes no leap of logic to discern that homosexual marriage is also condemned. But our society does not rely on the Bible for its moral truth. Instead, it relies more on a humanistic and relativistic moral base upon which it builds its ethics.

Homosexuality is not natural. The male and female bodies are obviously designed to couple. The natural design is apparent. It is not natural to couple male with male and female with female. In fact, if such couplings occurred in the animal world as a predominant practice, species would quickly become extinct. Nevertheless, some argue that homosexuality is natural since it occurs in the animal world. But this is problematic. In nature we see animals eating their prey alive. We see savagery, cruelty, and extreme brutality. Yet, we do not condone such behavior in our own society. Proponents of the natural order as a basis for homosexuality should not pick-and-choose the situations that best fit their agendas. They should be consistent and not compare us to animals. We are not animals. We are made in God's image.

Political protection of a sexual practice is ludicrous. I do not believe it is proper to pass laws stating that homosexuals have 'rights.' What about pedophilia or bestiality? These are sexual practices. Should they also be protected by law? If homosexuality is protected by law, why not those as well?

Of course, these brief paragraphs can in no way exhaust the issue of homosexuality's moral equity. But, the family is the basis of our culture. It is the most basic unit. Destroy it and you destroy society.

What should be the Christian's Response to the Homosexual?

Just because someone is a homosexual does not mean that we cannot love him (or her) or pray for him (her). Homosexuality is a sin and like any other sin, it needs to be dealt with in the only way possible. It needs to be laid at the cross, repented of, and never done again.

As a Christian, you should pray for the salvation of the homosexual the same you would any other person in sin. You should treat them with the same dignity as a person made in the image of God, that you would any other person. However, this does not mean that you are to approve of their sin. Don't compromise your witness for a politically correct opinion that is shaped by guilt and fear.

No civilization can endure this kind of twistedness and survive, and we won't survive it either, at least not in our present state

Sexual perversion has been associated with the ruin of many a great civilization. As you point out homosexuals seek to get converts by convincing people that what they do is normal. This is no different from a drug addict (alchohol, and Xanex included WOD warriors), adulterer (Clinton comes to mind), or thief. All will try to convince others that what they do is right. And, they try to get others to join them. Once you cross that threshold each subsequent act is easier. This is true for both the good and evil acts in the world.

Worst yet, they will allign with each other to push their individual immoralities collectively (thus the Democrat Party, though the GOP has such people also).

"According to prison population figures, 80% of murderers in jail are Christians. This doesn't mean a Christian is 80 times more likely to commit murder. "

I think you're being facetious, but I'll say it anyway - you're comparing apples with oranges, I think. First of all, the behavior and the beliefs you speak of are not only unrelated, but diametrically opposed. A brief look at the Bible will confirm that criminal activity is in no way condoned or encouraged. But when we speak of homosexual activity and homosexual child sexual abuse, the two are closely related - both being sexual activities separated only by the age of the participants. The point being that it would be counterintuitive to say that Christianity causes criminal behavior, but a reasonable conclusion to say that a man who wants to put his **** in another man's *** might find a smaller and younger *** a temptation.

I realize that the corresponding argument could then be attempted - that heterosexual activity leads to heterosexual child molestation for the same reason, but the statistics seem to indicate that heterosexuals are far more able to draw that line than homosexuals. That was my original point - that something is "broken" in the homosexual community to produce such numbers. That is, homosexual activity seems to lead to child molestation at 50 times the rate of heterosexual activity.

Another distinction: Those inmates you speak of come in at least three varieties

1. those who have converted to Christianity since their convictions
2. those who think they're Christians because parents were
3. those who were truly believers when they commited a crime.

Let's try those categories again, this time for man/boy offenders

1. those who have converted to homosexuality since raping a boy? (huh?)
2. Those who think they're homosexual because they're parents were? (Hey, that would clinch the homosexual gene argument)
3. And, finally, those who were truly homosexuals when they commited the crime.

My main point was this: any demographic that produces half of a given crime with 2% of the population is wacked somehow, and needs to answer for that.

I am always amazed that people can discover they are gay. These must be the same people who act as our judges and discover laws. And my guess is these are the same sorts of people that can discover their sexual addictions which lead to adultery. Why they can discover all sorts of conditions which provoke their lust for immediate gratification.

Anyway, I disagree with the suggestion that 'gay' parents want what is best for their children. If they did they would forgo having gay sex to keep their marriage together. If they could stand being with a woman to have a child the least they could do is to live out the role they selected. Kids dont happen by accident. Kids did not select their parents, but the parents selected to have kids. So I view this behavior as most disgusting.

I cant believe that the height of Western Civilization is considered to be that we have discovered that parents, and family are unnecessary, and unwanted for producing good, intelligent, moral human beings. Was the entire experiment in living that gave us the notion of family, and marriage a sham? How is it America and psychologists are so much smarter then the entire human race up to this point on such simple matters?

One thought is that with the destruction of the extended family, and the false feminism in our society the sexes are turning away from each other. I certainly think that the absence of family and society in encouraging families to work together for the sake of the children results in much of the immorality we see today.

I think we are a soft culture, like the Romans. We seek instant gratification at the expense of the future. To this end we reject God and morality as they stand in the way of our carnal pleasures. As these lusts even when met do not subside, but rather grow, we seek out increasingly deviant lifestyles hoping to find that elusive fulfillment that a moral life gives you.

A prominent psychiatrist says the sex-ed curricula at these schools can lower children "to the level of animals" and inflict lasting harm.

The law is being used not to elevate us, but to legislate the law of the jungle. It is a sad perversion, fortold by men such as Bastiat. He also pointed out how a man would object to the state teaching his child 'what he would not have him learn.' That is ALL kids are taught in schools, they cant suceed at teaching them math, or English, but man can they teach fisting. Sending a kid to a government school is a crime against nature!

That's right. If someone attempts to murder someone, the person should be and is charged with attempted murder. If someone drives through a school zone on a street at 100 mph, the government can and should charge the person with a crime even if they don't kill any kids. The same logic applies to losers that get high on drugs or get publicly intoxicated.

Biblical principles say that all four should not be legal.

Where in the Bible does it say that all four should not be legal?

Where in the Bible does it say anything at all about passing laws to make something illegal?

Have you ever read the Bible? The Old Testament? Exodus, Leviticus, and Deuteronomy are filled with criminal laws that were included in the Mosiac Law. Jesus upheld the criminal laws of the Mosiac Law. Paul upheld the death penalty and speaks of the proper role of government in regard to criminal justice in Romans 13.

Jesus upheld the criminal laws of the Mosiac Law.

Sure did. Said that those who were without sin could cast the first stone.

Have at it.

The reason Jesus said that is because the pharisees were trying to trap him into a premature conflict with the Roman government. Roman law banned the death penalty for adultery and stating the adultress should be put to death would have resulted in an early crucification.

Sometimes, it's better to remain silent and thought ignorant, then to type something stupid and remove any doubt. You likely know more about nursery rhymes than about the Bible. Read it sometime.

This is the saving grace of this. hopefully with no procreation they will also become extinct. But then I also believe that maried couples should be licencsed to have chldren

A rational case can be made for laying aside some of the OT laws. Paul made that clear. Of course then we could get into--if one is circumcised does he have to keep the letter of the whole OT law [I don't think so].

You could say that you have made a rational case for your perspective on Biblical statements re homosexuality. Most believers consider those positions more rationalization than rational.

I don't know that our personal opinions matter much.

GOD'S PERSONAL OPINION
MATTERS ENTIRELY.

They are also lined up against cold hard reality.

Homosexual behavior increases risk of AIDS

by Brian J. Kopp, DPM

Parental warning: The following "My View" contains graphic medical terminology about sexual activities that may not be suitable for younger readers.

In her May 12 "My View," Mina Yindra makes many errors, but I would like to correct her statements regarding AIDS and "bigotry."

Promiscuous heterosexual sex carries with it a much higher risk for AIDS, primarily because of the sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) associated with it, causing a breakdown in the natural barriers of both male and female reproductive tracts. AIDS is primarily concentrated among heterosexuals in Africa because of the high rate of female genital mutilation, leading to much higher than average rates of anal and oral intercourse, and culturally-accepted extramarital sexual activity, including widespread prostitution. Rates of STDs are quite high in these populations.

However, AIDS is by far most common among the homosexual population in the United States, primarily because the type and frequency of sexual contact, combined with STDs, is the perfect method of spreading a body-fluid borne virus.

Public health records demonstrate that homosexuals, representing 2 percent of America's population, suffer vastly disproportionate percentages of several of America's most serious STDs, with incidences among homosexuals of diseases like gonorrhea, syphilis, hepatitis A and B, cytomegalovirus, shigellosis, giardiasis, amoebic bowel disease and herpes far exceeding their presence in the general population. These are due to common homosexual practices that include fellatio, anilingus, digital stimulation of the rectum and ingestion of urine and feces.

An exhaustive study in The New England Journal of Medicine, medical literature's only study reporting on homosexuals who kept sexual "diaries," indicated the average homosexual ingests the fecal material of 23 different men each year. The same study indicated the number of annual sexual partners averaged nearly 100. Homosexuals averaged, per year, fellating 106 different men and swallowing 50 of their seminal ejaculations, and 72 penile penetrations of the anus. (Corey, L, and Holmes, K.K., "Sexual Transmission of Hepatitis A in Homosexual Men," New England Journal of Medicine, 1980, vol 302: 435-438; as quoted in "Homosexuality and Civil Rights," Tony Marco, 1992).

A study by McKusick, et al., of 655 San Francisco homosexuals reported that only 24 percent of the sample claimed to have been "monogamous" during the past year, and of this 24 percent, 5 percent drank urine, 7 percent engag-ed in sex involving insertion of a fist in their rectums, 33 percent ingested feces, 53 percent swallowed semen and 59 percent received semen in their rectums in the month just previous to the survey ("AIDS and Sexual Behavior Reported by Homosexual Men in San Francisco," American Journal of Public Health, December 1985, 75: 493-496; quoted in "Homosexuality and Civil Rights," Tony Marco, 1992).

Lesbians show similar patterns of high venereal disease incidence relative to the general population. They are 19 times more likely to have had syphilis, twice as likely to have had genital warts, four times as likely to have had scabies, seven times more likely to have had infection from vaginal contact, 29 times more likely to have had oral infection from vaginal contact and 12 times more likely to have had an oral infection from penile contact ("Medical Aspects of Homosexuality," Institute for the Scientific Investigation of Sexuality, 1985, Jaffe and Keewhan, et al.; quoted in "Homosexuality and Civil Rights," Tony Marco, 1992).

AIDS research by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control reported that the typical homosexual interviewed claimed to have had more than 500 different sexual partners in a lifetime. Considered by themselves, the AIDS victims in this study averaged more than 1,100 lifetime sexual partners. Some reported as many as 20,000. Studies reported by A-P. Bell, M.S. Weinberg and S.K. Hammersmith in the book "Sexual Preference" (Bloomington, Indiana University Press, 1981) indicated that only 3 percent of homosexuals had fewer than 10 lifetime sexual partners. Only about 2 percent could be classified as either monogamous or semi-monogamous (from "Homosexuality and Civil Rights," Tony Marco, 1992).

To the present time, 75 to 85 percent of AIDS cases reported are related to homosexual activity, promiscuous heterosexual sex and IV drug abuse. AIDS stubbornly refuses to spread into the population in general, even 20 years after its discovery, despite dire warnings to the contrary.

These diseases are acquired directly through the sexual behavior homosexual activists are asking Americans to legally endorse and protect. Yet, as professor Jerome Lejeune of Descartes University, Paris, says of AIDS: "Only God can truly pardon the one who violates His laws; man pardons at times; Nature never pardons at all: She is not a person." The brutal consequences of attempting to break the natural law are not bigoted or hateful, nor are those, like Dr. Laura, Cal Thomas or Gary Morella, who try to point out the dangers and simple truths.

We are seeing the natural consequences of violating nature's laws now. They are also a warning to prevent the ultimate eternal consequences. How many will ignore that warning and continue to call the messenger a bigot and continue to shake their fist at God? How many will heed that warning of a loving Father, ready to forgive and reconcile His prodigal children?

The reason Jesus said that is because the pharisees were trying to trap him into a premature conflict with the Roman government.

You don't know if this is true; this is speculation, at best. Otherwise, show me the scripture where Jesus explains the strategy of the pharisees and how it would lead to an early crucifixion.

There are two kinds of people in the world (from a Christian standpoint): there are those that are under covenant to obey God's laws, and there are those that are not.

Why is it that you rabid Christians feel that you have the right to make everyone who is not a Christian and who has not made that covenant with God to live as if they have made it? Romans 13 doesn't say one word about Christians being allowed to enforce God's laws on non-believers; what it does say is that believers are subject to the laws of non-believers. It's possible that a case could be made that your attempts to force Christianity on others is actually hindering God's work.

For any Christian to attempt to force a non-Christian to adopt the Christian way of life is completely counter to God's plan. It's obvious that you missed your calling: the Spanish Inquisition ended a long time ago, and your efforts to bring back forced conversions are certainly not what God has in mind for those who have not yet accepted the Christian covenant.

I never said Jesus Christ said to kill or imprison sinners.

What do you think it is your "Christian" buddies are calling for with this thread? Maybe you should look around at your fine friends and see the blackness that has swallowed their souls, in the form of a thirst to usurp God's judgement by calling for the State to punish their fellow sinners.

I witness your charming "Christian" friend, who called me a "skank" for no reaon I can discern. And your own heartwarming references to my "stupidity".

I try to live my life so that I can look Jesus in the eye without fear, if indeed he's waiting there after I draw my final breath. Can you say the same, or are you too busy hunting for the mote in your brother's eye?
