Posted on 01/31/2002 5:29:21 PM PST by bigjoesaddle
I know several of you freepers love the Family Guy like I do, so I thought I'd let you know Fox plans on canceling it after next week! The last episode had the highest ratings in the time slot for Fox, but they still don't know what to do with it or something. Please sign the petition, or send a postcard. Thanks.

I was a big FG fan during its first year (which I believe was all of 6 episodes long). IMO, FG "jumped the shark" as of the first episode of season 2, and it's been downhill since then.
OTOH, even a shark-jumped FG is better than 90% of the dreck that passes for prime-time TV these days.

About time they cancelled this piece of dreck.
Is there a petition to keep it out of syndication?

A South Park/Family Guy block would rock!

I watched for a few minutes once also. I found it disgusting.

My boyfriend works for Fox. He says they have no clue what they are doing. If a show succeeds, they change it or cancel it...He thinks they keep changing and cancelling things just so that the marketing/research dept. keeps their jobs. Interesting info. Thanks. The petition is ranked third on signatures on the web site, so we should definately get some atttention.

Family Guy's wife is the most attractive anibabe among the primetime animated series.
I like the idea, above, of Comedy Central picking it up. Then I could watch it on DirectTV (w/out major networks). In the same vein, I find it incredible that the FX channel shows loads of Fox programs like X-Files, The Practice, Married with Children, etc... but NO Simpsons! What's that all about?

Could some of you people who don't like Family Guy please share with us what you DO consider to be funny on TV. And shows on TV LAND don't count! (That should wipe out comments from about 90% of you "moldy oldies")

Yeah! The Tick COULD BE a really good show. I love the concept and I really like the characters and actors.
--- BUT ---
Hire some decent writers for petesake! Nothing happens in the whole half hour! Watch a few Simpson's episodes to see what it's like to keep a plot moving along at a good pace. If they had some decent writers then The Tick could be a fun show.

Good point. This is largly a generational issue. I doubt anyone under 30..hell, even under 40 would be among those who find offense to SP/FG
To: bigjoesaddle
On that note, let me add that I think King of the Hill sucks! Not funny at all!!!

Forget Family Guy...save The Tick. Wow...thought the Tick had died off a long time ago.

Oh, I forgot about the one-eyed babe in Futurama ('cause I don't get Fox). But... I think that's all silicone.

I always thought The Simpsons was the most overated show on TV. It always bored me.
HOWEVER, I have a dry sense of humor - I think PG Wodehouse is the best humor author, ever - so I'm bound to dislike the Simpsons and Family Guy. Which is too bad because there's funny stuff in each.
I just like The Tick because the actor playing Tick is so perfect for clueless deadpan.
