He did say "I" - in one place - and he used it VERY well. He said he would not stand by and watch an encroaching threat to this country's security, or words to that effect. And that's the only time, I think.
"I will not wait on events, while dangers gather. I will not stand by, as peril draws closer and closer. The United States of America will not permit the world's most dangerous regimes to threaten us with the world's most destructive weapons."
I like this use of "I". Not Clintonian "I did this" and "I did that" and "I'm so great" - this is a show of strength and responsibility. I loved this.
