I think of getting acquitted for a rape charge for Wm Kennedy Smith is a lot worse and to think he was able to get his medical license even.

Let me choose my words carefully here ... as I said, the reality is that big-league politics inherently involves the rest of the family being along for the ride as well. It's worse now with 365/24/7 media, but it's pretty much always been the case. A career in big-time politics is not a normal existence, regardless of party and philosophy. I do think it takes a certain amount of dedication and focus and, for lack of a better term, selfishness to get ahead in it ... qualities that would, even if we're talking about the best possible people, serve to distract one from certain family concerns. Bottom line, it's no surprise that so many political families have a certain level of dysfunction ... because at its core, and again it's regardless of party or philosophy and it may involve people who are good people and whom I support and vote for, politics is inherently a dysfunctional way of life.
