The tabloids had good pics on Chelsea, but chose not to use them.

This is so sad for the Gov. and his wife. It could happen to ANY kid in any family. It does all the time. If Dems make an issue out of this, I am sure many of them have troubled kids. Just look at the Kennedy's. Why is it when THEY have problems, it just endears them to the public?

I really don't care. this is a non-story and none of my business.

No, I think she should be treated as anyone else. From what other freepers are saying, this is not a big deal. Senator McCain's wife got caught doing something similar to this, as have many others.
I just wish this hadn't happened on the day President Bush is to give his address to the nation. The liberal media, (networks, etc.) will no doubt mention it ad nauseum.

Dadgum, I forgot to post a pic of the Major. Oh well, maybe she was in the shower.

She's the niece of a president, but is also the daughter of the governor of a major state who's running for re-election this year. That's what makes it a big deal.

"I undestand he may have family problems like every day americans, but he got to be more careful or his family problems will destroy him."Hmmmm... I wonder if thats true? So many people have members of the family that embarrass them that most can empathize. Anyway what can GW do? His kids and neices and nephews belong to themselves. He can't control them, and kids will be kids. And to be honest, they never asked to be born into a family where dad was governor and uncle was president....not that I am feeling sorry for them. It would be nice if they could show a little self control, after all they might have a future in politics as well?

Kinda reminds me of the time when her Mother was caught bringing in high dollar clothes from Paris when her customs disclaimer said she had naught. The difference between the disclaimer and the value of the clothes was (?) about $4K.

Are those for possesion? I thought she was just trying to obtain it? you're absolutely right. now you can see why i was looking for a florida attorney freeper
(i'm just an engineer)
it looks like a 3rd degree felony.
FSS 893.13 Prohibited acts; penalties.--
9. To acquire or obtain, or attempt to acquire or obtain, possession of a controlled substance by misrepresentation, fraud, forgery, deception, or subterfuge.
10. To affix any false or forged label to a package or receptacle containing a controlled substance.
(c) Any person who violates the provisions of subparagraphs (a)9.-11. commits a felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.

I have heard that too ... but have also heard some things that make it sound to me like that might be an urban legend. Because if you're talking about the Enquirer, Star, people of that ilk ... they are basically apolitical.

This is exactly why those threads about Johnny Taliban are so ridiculously moronic. You know, the ones where the bible thumpers try to blame the traitor's actions on his father's sexuality. Don't overstate the case. I don't think that anyone here blames his team-switching dad for what has happened as much as they have suggested that such a family-destroying event may have been a factor. There are more than a few guys like Frank Lindh in the Bay Area, and only one Johnny Jihad.

I can see your point but it really is kinda useless to guess what the charge is going to be until such time as a prosecutor files a complaint. Sometimes there are multiple charges and whatnot that they consider.

You're full of BS. Registered for a year, and only 6 posts in the last several months, and the ones you make are personal insults to President bush?
Buh-bye, loser

Fla.- Gov. Jeb Bush's daughter was charged with prescription fraud Tuesday after she was arrested at a pharmacy drive-thru window while allegedly trying to buy the sedative Xanax. Sedatives? Xanax? Downers?
To: corporatehegemony
This will have zero, zilch, impact on G.W. and anything he does ... the fallout we have to worry about from this is the Florida gubernatorial election. If it were not for the fact that we need the Senate back so desperately, I'd place that race No. 1 on the agenda for the GOP this year, because if Jeb were to lose in Florida ... especially to Reno and especially after what happened in 11-12/2000 ... it would be a massive psychological blow to us and would be chum in the water to the Dems.

She'll be treated like the son or daughter of every other President who has "misbehaved". Privilege is not a partisan guardian. But she'd not the son or daughter of a president (yet). She's the neice of a president. She's also the granddaughter of a president. She also the daughter of a governor. The story (from yesterday) is a "breaking news item" today.
The headline she generated is that she is the neice of somebody famous. Certainly is peculiar given that her dad is a bigger influence in her life (but then the story just isn't as big).

Their point was that they weren't a drug abuser even though in this case she was arrested for trying to obtain a legal substance. I guess taking my daily blood pressure medications makes me a drug abuser.
