There is a cross erected on top of a hill in southern Illinois, near Cobden and Alto Pass, Illinois. It is on the 2nd highest elevation in the state. You can see it for miles. It is especially beautiful at night when it is lighted and appears to float in the air, as you can't see the hill it is on. It is called "Bald Knob Cross," and I don't think anyone there, or who sees it, would ever consider complaining about it. It is one of my favorite places to see. BSW

There's a large cross on top of a mountain near Uniontown, Pa. (south of Pittsburgh), which is just a beautiful sight. Curiously enough, it's at a Methodist camp and conference center. I guess not all Methodists are offended by the sight of the cross.
