I'm not going to swear out any loyalty oaths to any person. I am loyal only to ideas and ideals.Ping. Since you didn't ask, let me give you my first and final reaction:
Good grief! Uncover and move to another place for press conferences if you feel squeamish.

Your meaning is lost to me. Could you please restate your point.
To: Lazamataz
Laz, I was pinging what you said about loyalty to ideas and ideals. And addressing Ashcroft in second part. Sorry for fuzzy connection. Not enough java yet.

Thank you, Attorney General Ashcroft. If the 'media' are insensitive to causing certain adolescents to 'stumble'; then, since the 'eye' that offends thee is that of the press and cannot be plucked out, do what you can 'for the children'.
The 'Agenda of the Left' is to dishonor and discredit Ashcroft, never mind the 'inappropriate' camera angles they use for their purpose.
I haven't seen anyone on this thread show the similarly angled shot of Attorney General Reno, with either statue behind her. I guess the 'urinalists' only want to convey the 'boob' issue with Ashcroft.

"A little modesty never hurts ;)" Especially when dealing with an 'adolescent' and agenda motivated camera crew.
To: Chess
They belong to the people, That is a WHOLE 'nother problem. Don't even get me started :)
To: d14truth;howlin;tennessee_bob
Exactly. Look at the angle of the cameras when they film him. They never did that with Reno. The whole thing is the leftist media mocking him.
To: FreePaul
"Nude statues shouldn't be a problem." No, they shouldn't. However, when USED to desensitize a culture to true beauty and love, and turn it to sex and lust, it fails to serve the 'higher' purpose. Tasteless photography in this specific instance, IMHO.
To: RedBloodedAmerican
She looks better in front of walls.
To: Stone Mountain
"Are you seriously contending that someone is being harmed because of these statues?" Yes, 'the children', however old they may be.
To: MassExodus
"...to the very HEART of what government buildings are supposed to be about. PEOPLE. EXCELLENCE. STANDARDS."
And, here I thought government buildings were about taxation and voter dependency. Silly me.
Must have lost sight of 'people, excellence, and standards' during the Clinton Administration.
To: wirestripper
"He did not desecrate anything! Just covered the dang thing up during photo ops where jerks were purposely shooting boob angles with him as the butt of the joke. He got fed up with it. Funny, this boob shoot has never been done before. Does that tell you anything!" I am in total agreement with you. One cannot 'pluck out the eye of the press that offends thee', but one can give it something else to view.
To: tex-oma
"Two families were deprived of a replacement car, appliances, clothes, tuition money, food or anything else you can imagine because John Ashcroft is a prude." I'm sure Terry McAuliffe will 'promise' to make it up to them.
To: d14truth
I guess we are members of a rather small support group.
To: wirestripper
"I guess we are members of a rather small support group." I guess that makes us 'disciples'. I like the company. Of course, the religions of the left and middle have their disciples, too. And, in the new math calculations, something hasn't changed. GOD + 1 = majority. I seek to be 1 of the many more than 1 on His side.
Someone's daughter modelled for that statue. If it were my daughter, I would say one of two things to those who would view her. Those viewing beauty - "Thank you, she was created in God's image." Those viewing in lust - "Don't even think it. My shotgun is loaded." {;~)
To: sneakypete
He will be laughed at as the fundie cretin who was afraid he'd get a boner for a aluminum tit." Not to cast aspersion on the 'cretins' who do the same for paper or cyber ones. I believe 'fleeing' temptation is a good move. For those not so tempted, ever, I commend your self control.
To: wirestripper
Not so small. Mr. Ashcroft has lots of supporters. Me, for another. :)
To: Suchiro
"Why did he have to take the most bone-headed option available?" Maybe to just to show how 'intolerant' the preachers of 'tolerance' are? Respect is a two-way street. The photographers 'took their shots'. Ashcroft is entitled to his, IMHO.
To: d14truth
I agree with the poster who said the best solution would have been to put one of those "I'm with stupid!" t-shirts on her.
