USO Canteen Freeper Style
War has come to our shores. It was committed on American soil. We have been able to live in Freedom only because of those who have fought in the past wars giving life, limb and all the sacrifices for us to live in Freedom and go about our day without fear.
On September 11, 2001, that comfort, that feeling of living in a land that would not be attacked ended.
William T. Sherman said it succinctly, "War is hell."
The day has come for this Nation and its people to understand that there is a risk in losing its freedom, and in reality there always has been. We have ONLY stayed free because of the sacrifices of our military, our warriors.
This is about saving the future of America. Aristotle said, "We make war that we may live in peace."
We are seeing the American Flag flying at homes now more than ever in my lifetime. We are seeing the American Flag flying on vehicles and people wearing Flag pins and small Flags on their clothes. America is united in the cause for Freedom and for our country to WIN against the evil that came upon our land to kill and hurt us. To change our way of life and to destroy America which is US, you and me. To take away our precious Freedom.
This is the Freeper version of the USO Canteen. Where soldiers could come and feel a small part of being at home. It is a place where you that have family in the military can post a thought to a loved one that might be able to read it far away from home. A place where we that support our military can help support them, post to them, fun graphics showing the price in America and our troops. Poems, quotes, cartoons, or articles of how America is behind our troops.
Those in our military are our Nation's warriors. Let us join hands, fly our Flag and let the world know how important our warriors are to us....And that our MILITARY, our Warriors, are America's TRUE HEROS!
"No Marine was ever honored for what they received. Honor was the reward for what they gave." (Anonymous) CHIEF gave his all in many ways. He touched our lives and his friendship meant so much to all of us. He will live in our hearts forever, and his friendship will always be a bright and shining memory in our hearts and souls.

I love blonde jokes, especially the one about the white out on the computer screen, but since I am a blonde I do not remember how to tell it.

The Community Web Shots has started blocking the images from being posted using their url. When we access it through our browsers, then we can see it posted. Victoria and Susan used to store and post their images from Web Shots, but evidently they just started blocking them a few weeks ago.

Either one, Lynn -whichever way YOU want to do it! I noticed after I voted "for" tonk, that he still felt bad about having his photo there and you replaced it with Jim Rob's.

Another question about the lodge pic... you voted (along with Snow Bunny) on yesterday's thread to use the one with Tonkin in the frame. I had already given him another with JimRob's pic in it.
If I put Morgan in the pic with Tonkin's framed pic, he may never post it again, and I don't want to take away his fireplace by posting it myself after these additions are done. What to do????

I would honor Tonk's wishes. I understand how he feels - I don't necessarily agree with it, but I understand. I felt the same way when davidosborne did a whole thread about me.

Okay, I'll add it to the one with Jim Rob. Tonkin did feel uncomfortable with his there, although everyone thought it should be. Whoever thought it should be as well, but voted with Tonkin because he was uncomfortable with it.It's his fireplace room so I guess we had better be nice to him. :-)

Cool Piece of Hardware:
The Bunker Buster The Bunker Buster during concrete wall penetration testing. The wall is a 22 foot thick solid block of concrete simulating a high resistance bunker.
The GBU 28 "Bunker Buster" is a great demonstration of thinking "out of the box" and how the need to get it done can overcome the normal bureaucracy of weapons procurement. In January of 1991 US forces did not have a bomb in their arsenal that could penetrate Saddam Hussein's bunkers. In 17 days the combined efforts of Air Force Systems Command, Watervliet Arsenal in New York, Lockheed Aeronautical and Space Systems, and Texas Instruments produced the needed weapon.
Watervliet engineers used 8-inch surplus artillery tubes to create the bomb casing and matched the casing to a Texas Instruments' guidance package from a GBU 27. The team, thus, created a 4,700 laser guide bomb. Upon testing the bomb was shown to be able to penetrate 22ft of concrete and 100ft of earth. In fact during the sled test the bomb penetrated the 22ft of concrete and then continued on for 1/2 mile.
The first two bombs were delivered in theater on February 27, 1991. Since then, the US military has continued to improve the ordinance package.

=========================== Canteen Joke of The Day
=====================================================
Womens quote of the day:
Men are like fine wine. They start out like grapes, and its our job to stomp on them and keep them in the dark until they mature into something with which youd like to have dinner.
Mens counter-quote of the day:
Women are like fine wine. They start out fresh, fruity, and intoxicating to the mind and then turn full-bodied with age until they go all sour and vinegary and they give you a headache.
