I think English Heritage is expecting some lively tourist traffic from the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings movies.

CLICK on Stonehenge to see more of this area.

Just tear down Stonehenge and put a 3rd highway right through the heart of it. ;)

WHY ? Do you also want to knock down the Colliseum in Rome, drop a Daisycutter on top of Machu Pichu, and nlow up the Pyramids?

I do hope that you were trying to be funny, and not serious. If you were serious, the Taliban would just ove yeou to bits. : - (

Maybe, but shipping costs would be prohibtive. Better, just spray paint the Stonehenge arches orange and put up a McDonalds right smack in the middle of it.

Oh you're a brave one. Har. I don't usually sign on to environmental concerns since they're often so radical, but I do see some value to conserving the Stonehenge area as pristine as possible. As long as the preservation doesn't extend ten miles in every direction, I do think it's reasonable to preserve a reasonable area around the site.

I think London Bridge was sold and shipped to Arizona.

I agree and I do not like the idea of a shallow tunnel nearby!

Why don't you suggest that we tear down the White House, while you're at it ? I bet you thought that the Clintons turning it into a bed & breakfast was a great idea.

I would have to agree. The development process is very invasive, and it affects groud structures near and far, depending on geological factors. Seems to me the roadway might be able to be routed around the whole area without much more trouble than a tunnel would be.

I vote for preserving the highways. If the Druids who built these monoliths came back, they'd knock down their stones and worship our structures.

Since the highways are already there, they should make Stonehenge into a giant Roundabout.

It is something to see. Since Cincinatus and I were there during the height of the mad cow nightmare, there wasn't much traffic. It is out in the country and as you come over a hill, wham there it is. It seemed smaller than we expected. The rocks are big but somehow the photos make them appear massive. I guess that's because pictures usually don't have people in them for perspective.

There is an area around Sedona, AZ that has the "harmonic convergence" label. It started out as an art colony-swimming creek village and now it's high priced homes and shops. Take plenty of money for crystals.

I wonder if London Bridge has a McDonald's on it now?

Now there's a thought! Wouldn't that set the wood nymphs and mystics a flutter?!

I've been to England many times ; ufortunateley, never managed to get to Salibury Plan. Stonehenge is a fascinating place , as are ALL antiquities; I do hope, to get to see it eventually. Lucky you ! : - )

I've heard of that other place. NO THANKS ! I'm not into that sort of stuff. LOL
