Well said. As an Honors and Advanced Placement teacher, I can tell you that as soon as you start holding the students accountable, you will get a tremendous amount of pressure from parents and administration to "lighten up". You have to give them what they want. But then they want to hold you accountable when no one is learning or passing standardized tests.
