Did anyone see the disturbing (and quite unfunny) "TV Funhouse" segment on SNL this evening?
They were attempting (one supposes) to insult Pat Robertson, but succeeded only in ridiculing Christians and those who value life and the unborn.
They portrayed a fictional Robertson-sponsored cartoon, in which "embyonic cell" and "Ted Trimester" (1st-trimester fetus) characters were placed in a work environment, as if they were high-powered workers. The characters were unintelligable, yet the other adult characters responded as if those two were geniuses. Also interspersed were a "Mr Parkinson" man seeking to kill the fetuses for their stem cells, who, upon being shown Jesus' image by the the "cell" character, ripped up a homosexual porno magazine (the "Robertson" scharacter asserts that if someone has a disease like Parkinsons it must be because Jesus is punishing them for being gay) and gives up his gun.
The message was clear: it is absurd to suppose that life begins at conception, because it is absurd to suppose that fetuses could function in the workplace. Also the piece asserts that one would have to be an extremist, homophobic Christian to value the unborn or have a problem with harvesting fetuses for stem cells.
Christianity is mocked and absurdly portrayed throughout the piece, which received very few laughs from the audience (do they really expect it to be funny?)
My wife and I were shocked by this, and the more we thought about it, the more disturbed we became.

Sheesh. Here's what I said. "I just assume a deleted post was an outstanding rebut of a conservative positional weakness that conservativism can't figure out how to answer. If the censors don't want to leave that impression, they should leave the post undeleted so that our own individual minds can assess its quality."
80% of this forum is liberal bashing. So that little rule only seems to apply when conservatives are "bashed" which is defined as anything they really really don't like being said against them.
I have an acquaintance who is a comedian in Chicago, and he has submitted some scenes that have been accepted and aired on SNL. Right now he is working on an Ayn Rand skit. He sums it up by saying the skit is about the too soon departed mommies of Ayn's disciples. Now that's a parody with some promise.

This isn't about Pat Robinson, getting ridiculed, or Republicans getting ridiculed, or Christianity getting ridiculed, it's about making a joke about killing defenseless fetuses.
Never mind. I guess it must be me, no sense of humor /sarcasm.
How would you like it if I posted an accusation against you and then stated that I was not required to either prove it or retract it because I was "assuming" it?
As I have pointed out, it would be quite easy for you to accumulate proof, and if you get some I would be interested in seeing it.
Put up or shut up.
You are aware, I presume, that there is another view other than your own about abortion? You seem to be saying that only your view should be allowed to air.
That's true. Some are. Unfortunately they are anonymous.
Frankly, I would think that even few pro-choice people find abortion funny. Except for the extreme weirdos who think of it as some sort of sacrament, I suspect most people find it at best a very regrettable necessity, and not a particularly fertile source of humor.
Maybe. But conservatives flame away 24/7 on this forum and are seldom censored. Therefore it is political bias that controls the delete button -- not flames per se.

If you accuse others, even as a group, of intellectual dishonesty, you should yourself have the intellectual honesty to present proof of your asertion.
Look, some posts obviously should be pulled. Somebody has to make a judgment call about any particular post. All I am requesting is your evidence that routine abuses are taking place.
I'll bet you anything that if (most of) the deleted posts were left up you would be screaming about the bigotry and hatred FR is promoting.
You'd have to accept ProdigalDaughter's characterization of the segment. In fact the funny part was the characterization of Christian evangalists assuming a picture of Jesus is going to sway people's opinions 180 degrees, or as I say, their constant scriptural quoting attempting to overcome the weight of fossil evidence and the like.
She could say that a parody of Christian young earthers means I think digging fossils is funny. But that would be an odd characterization.
Ha, but apparently there are others here that assert it never or seldom happens. ha ha
Gosh, that's big of you.
