What about the night people, who haven't seen the posts from the day people and post it again so the night people can know what is going on. The day people get pissed and say "It has already been posted here". But the night people wouldn't know it has already been posted, the readers don't know, what they have missed, they don't know what to look for, to see if it has been posted. When I click on after 7:30 pm, I want to see what is going on right now, or what has happend today while I was unable to see the FreeRepublic. Recently I was going to post something, so in order to please the day posters, I bumped the previously posted post about 6 times, another poster helped with about 2 bumps and we couldn't even get near the top. Then I copied the post and posted as a new post, so the night readers could see it. They didn't even know it was the and wouldn't even know what to search for. They would have never seen it any other way. Some thanked me for posting. But the day people said "this has already been posted". In other words there is problem with the day people posting and the night people posting articles that they wouldn't have seen otherwise and wouldn't know what to look for in the first place. Please help.

One 'bump to the top' bumps it to the top. Copy/pasting an old post just to repost it does not make it more visible in the lastest posts than simply bumping the old thread does. It is not a cumulative process... When a lot of people are posting, it doesn't stay 'at the top' long.
Use the search function if you see an article and don't know if it has been posted yet. Use the exact title when searching and posting... If it has been posted, don't post a duplicate, is what I think JimRob is saying here....

If the same story is posted 5-6 hours apart, we generally don't pull them. If some hits the abuse because of a duplicate thread, we check the posting times first before pulling a thread. Only on instances where we might have seen the same story 4, 5 or more times in a day do we start pulling.

I am one of the night people, late night at times.
I'll see an interesting article and read it, then underneath see someone has written to the poster how this article has already been posted. I'll think to myself that I'm glad someone reposted it because I hadn't seen it before, and probably wouldn't have otherwise.
This happens a lot.
