Besides the which, they posts are vacuous (meaning "devoid of relevant meaning" for those of you in Rio Linda). The extent to which certain people obsess over DU is mind-boggling to me.
The bottom line ought to be, on FR: If it has no newsworthy content, then don't post it.
That goes for any and all Vanity posts as well.
P.S. If you MUST post a Vanity, put it in "Your Opinions/Questions". I've noticed that most stupid, pointless Vanities these days are put in "Miscellaneous." If you point out their faux pas, they'll claim they "didn't know". I don't believe them. I think they just want to make sure they can shove it in front of everyone's face (YO/Q has a "self-limited" audience).

I've been getting weary of the "What's your favorite this or that...T" Those posts are nothing BUT vanities. Do you really think the poster is interested in YOUR favorite movie/song/Beatle/football team/underwear fetish? The object is to gather as many responses as possible, so you can brag to your friends. Apparently there are those who consider that the way to gain fame on this forum.
I would suggest that, in keeping with the forum's original intent, one seek notice by the intelligence of his remarks, the depth of his research, or the keenness of his wit. Those virtues contribute much more to the advancement of conservatism than idle jabber.

Running FR must be like herding cats or pushing a rope. I support your efforts to keep it in line with your vision.
One observation I've had is the personal attacks seem to be most prevalent in threads challenging the concept that Islam is a "peaceful" religion. What's the old saying about discussions of religion and politics??
I thoroughly enjoy the variety of info sources I can find here, and the overall quality of the discussions. But I hope if people "tone it down" that good natured humor, sarcasm, irony, etc that is such an enjoyable part of the FR discussions won't go away, just the personal attacks that reveal a lack of thoughtful discussion anyway.
An FR fan.

And QUIT trashing each other. You know who you are. Knock it off! Way too many flamewars and feuds going on. Amen to that. I can't remember how many times I've been called a "pothead" here because of my anti-War on Drugs position. Unlike many self-professed tokers here, I've never done anything stronger than a Tylenol.

Way too many vanity threads lately. And way too much trash being posted. Please try to stay on topic (politics). The wonderful research and thoughtful debate of many of the posters here at FR has served to sharpen my vision and broaden my awareness. I thank all of you who take the time to search out the truth.
Thank you Jim Robinson for allowing us the opportunity to exchange this information in a way never before possible.

This is good. And speaking of Commie Propaganda, I have just about had my fill of Robert Fisk and the like. <-;

You asked:
"What about those of us who vote Republican but feel it necessary to critique our leaders' performance and criticize when they make bonehead, watered-down-leftist decisions." Critiques that might include "bonehead, watered-down-leftist" phrases are harmless in the over-all scheme of things. Emotions do run high here. And, truth to tell, critiques are stimulating, thought provoking, and easily distinguishable from the newest type FR intrusion :
The one trick pony posters, who begin bashing Bush within hours of signing in, who seem to flit from thread to thread, subject to subject, always on message, "Bash Bush". These goobers are easy to spot, even easier to ignore. And if one of them stuck around long enough to contribute even a dime of financial support to Jim Rob, I'd be surprised.

And, whatever else you do, please DO NOT post from DEMOCRATS UNDERGROUND (or any other such trashy un-American socialist hangout). Free Republic was intended to be a socialist free zone. We've gone to a heck of a lot of trouble to make it that way. Why in the world would you think we would be interested in having their trash posted here? Thank you! I am so sick of seeing these posts. I swear that the people posting those threads are doing so just to increase the hit rate at DU.

I think vanity posts, should they continue, be placed under "Humor". :)

Yes!!!!!! Thank You Jim for trying to restore some integrity and sanity to this wonder site.

I got banned there before I was able to do anything there. LOL. And I was actually civil.

Ah, yes, the postings of ultra-liberal/professed commies who bash Israel and then pretend that it's from the far right...
Then there are the posts that link to sites or quote from places like Sam Francis, Aryan Nations, quote from William Pierce, etc.--athough JimRob has done a good job at rooting out those creeps.

I think I'm going to put my mouth in my foot here, but I love vanities!
For me, FR is yoga on the net.
I unwind, have fun, and sometimes contribute.
That said, I certainly have to agree with Jim on the below.
"Way too many vanity threads lately. And way too much trash being posted. Please try to stay on topic (politics)."
Should I be one of the culprits, humble apologies.
