I think a further interpretation of this report is that it confirms that gravity works just like other forms of radiant energy in imparting discrete energy levels to particles. That is, that particles can have an energy level 'A' or level 'B', but not 'A.2357', for example. So as you said, gravity is simply another wave phenomenon.

All that can be said about gravity in this experiment is that it is acting as a wall, a restraint that restricts the motion of the particle in a specific direction. It's the restricting of the particle that causes the appearance of the discrete energy levels. There are 2 walls here, one is the hard mirror and the other is a spring(gravity). Neither impart energy to the particle, they just reverse it's direction. The energy of the particle was arrived at before it entered the space between the walls. The difference in energy any particle had in excess to any of the allowed levels in the box was radiated as heat when it entered the box.
